Contributions and Payments

Certain types of development may require a financial contribution towards the cost of new and upgraded infrastructure or amenities.

A SVPA is an agreement entered into by a planning authority (such as the Department) and a developer.

A contribution paid by developers within a defined areas to help fund key state and regional infrastructure required to support growing communities. Currently being applied in limited circumstances.

The Housing and Productivity Contribution is a broad-based development charge within the Greater Sydney, Illawarra-Shoalhaven, Lower Hunter and Central Coast regions.

The practice notes help councils prepare contributions plans and negotiate planning agreements. They can also help applicants, and the community understand the local contributions system.
