The Department is developing a plan to increase community participation in planning, including the assessment of State significant projects. The draft Community Participation Plan sets out the Department’s approach to community participation in planning and seeks to deliver better planning results for people across NSW. Community Participation in Assessment

The Department is committed to encouraging community participation in the assessment of State significant projects. This includes undertaking engaging with the community at all stages during the assessment and implementation of these projects and ensuring community views are taken into account in all decision-making. Community Consultative Committees

The Department requires the proponents of some State significant projects to establish a Community Consultative Committee for their projects. These committees provide a robust forum for discussion between the proponent and community representatives on key issues and concerns relating to specific State significant projects.
