As the owner of the property „Glendale“ close to Girilambone I would like to raise four concerns in regards to the Constellation Project:
1) Both currently proposed routes which Aeris Resources have indicated to us are going through „Glendale“ and while Tritton Resources have been in touch with us to let us know their general plans there have been no proposals, offers or negotiations that have taken place. However as part of the Constellation Project Plan Appendix 7 "Transport Assessment" the report refers to land used for roads only as "Aeris owned land" (page 14, 1.3 Purpose of this Road) and "land owned by Aeris" ( page 28, 3. Development Proposal).
While we know what their general plans/ preferences are and while they have approached us about this as two of their potential routes a few months ago, we were still surprised to see the maps and plans marked as „land owned by Aeris" when in fact parts of the land their proposed route is going through are in fact not owned nor are they under offer but instead private dirt roads (which we created, maintain and use) that are on our property. We have indicated the section of the road on my property with a blue line in the attached photo. But they also discussed a second route with us along the state forest on our property which we can't find any reference to in these reports.
2) Of further concern in this regard would be potential rubbish pollution on our property - we are familiar with the currently used road (Yarrendale Road) of the mine vehicles and trucks and there is a great amount of rubbish found on the sides of the road with employees/ contractors losing helmets, water bottles, empty boxes etc off the back of their utes, blown up tyres left on side of the road or coffee cups and bottles simply thrown out of vehicles. These environmental impacts would potentially affect our property on the bordering section along Okeh Road as well as the currently proposed route partially going through our property. However this concern hasn't been discussed further with Tritton Resources as we have not been approached with any negotiations or similar yet for the use of this road on our property by Tritton Resources or Aeris Resources.
3) Another concern we have is the added traffic noise with the planned new intersection on the Mitchell Highway. Our house isn't too far away from the planned intersection (as well as some Girilambone town houses which would be affected as well) and the concern sits around the noise of the haulage trucks hitting the breaks, stopping and speeding up again at this intersection 24 hours a day for 7 days a week as well as other vehicles. We are about 5km "as the crow flies" distance from the current mine site and can regularly hear when the rock breaker, loaders and trucks are operating on the surface of the current site. The planned intersection between Girilambone and our house is a lot closer than the current mine site (approximately less than 2.5kms from what we can guess based on the project plan) and we imagine quite some noise impacts due to the proximity and vehicle types (haulage trucks) using this intersection.
4) While the Project Plan/ Report mentions that there were no major accidents in the area where the intersection is proposed, it needs to be mentioned that in the past 4 months there were two road train incidents/accidents between our front gate and Girilambone (about 2.5kms stretch of the Mitchell Hwy) which involved the Mitchell Highway being closed or partially closed. These were naturally not included in the Project Plan as they only happened recently, but create some concern for us with the added traffic of this intersection in this area.
While we are generally supportive of the Constellation Project and the opportunities it brings for our area we would like to raise the above concerns.
