As a Lithgow local born and bred in the area , I have seen a lot of industry lost for what ever reason and I feel as a result there is not much employment opportunities which this project would provide , also

With my wife, I purchased our forever family healthy lifestyle farm in 1990, not knowing the Coal mine had a lease on our north and east boundary.
Since the coal mine commenced we have had problems with non compliance of the EIS with
*excessive dust,
*large number of truck and machinery movements outside set hours
* blasting that shook our home and we believe has cracked our gyprock
*underground heating odour (rotten egg gas) and smoke which at times forces us to go into our home and we have to keep it closed up. We are unable to continue with our outside pursuits especially at the back of our farm
* our natural water from the hills was cut off by a bund wall
* limited rehabilitation has been done and in lots of cases very unsuccessful due to the underground heating killing it and no follow up work being done
The ownership of the mine has passed through many companies over the years and when there has been a problem it seems it was always the last companys fault or they have now sacked that person. The problems never seem to be addressed and fixed properly.
In the late 1990's we were told the mine would operate there for 4 to 7 years, which at the time was devastating news but we thought that if we got though that time we would again have our dream farm as it should be. Now in 2025 they want another 5 years.
We are also concerned about the large number of trucks crossing the Portland Road which is a school bus route. The stop signs are not always obeyed. There is a camera there that is never working when we put a complaint in.
The latest owners are allowing the trucks to be washed and serviced at the Stone Cottage office or on the haul road. The water from this activity goes through the mine property and could come onto our farm, depositing coal mud on our land. The Mine management have been uncooperative ensuring the trucks are washed and worked on in an appropriate workshop with a wash bay.
We have requested all our issues and complaints, over the years to be recorded in the mines' complaint book.
We are NOT in favour of the Cullen Valley Modification 5 - extension of life. We would like to see it rehabilitated and closed as was promised to us.

I strongly support this project. This organisation is employing many locals and supporting local business as well as supplying an important resource for domestic power supply.

This is a great Australian owned business, supporting a local regional economy and providing an energy resource for domestic use.

I am making a submission to support the project for the following reasons:
- It supports direct and indirect local employment within the Greater City of Lithgow
- It assists with coal security for Mt Piper Power Station as it is the newest coal fired power station in NSW and will be open beyond 2030
- It allows for adequate time to rehabilite the future and existing open cut disturbance areas
- It is generally an extension of time for the project as there was significant care and maintenance periods affecting the timeline for the project
