Ebor Battery Energy Storage System

Please accept this letter as the formal submission from Gumbaingarr Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (GTOAC), regarding the EIS Scoping Report and SEARs formulation for the Ebor BESS Project (SSD-85362210).

We need developments like this to help with power supply certainty as well as create employment opportunities .

Contamination and Waste Management are issues that are being swept under the carpet. It’s time government stop putting renewable energy targets ahead of the nation’s public health and food security. Please refer to attachment for details:

This is a Fake Green UNclean, UNregulated, UNreliable, UNethical, UNeconomical, INsecure Scam designed to make Australia weak and China ever stronger. Nothing but a TROJAN HORSE FOR COMMUNISM!

Where serious or potentially irreversible harm cannot be ruled out, the precautionary principle requires decision-makers to demand stronger evidence before planning such ecocidal, China CONtrolling rubbish!

I object that the assessment does not address the full lifecycle risks associated with lithium-ion battery materials, chemical breakdown products and poisonous releases during fire, failure or disposal.

These risks require essential, reputable, independent research and transparent assessment rather than reliance solely on modelling, assumptions and propaganda.

Bis-FASI PFAS, Hydrofluoric Acid and Hydrogen Fluoride Gas Plumes, etc. require diligent and independent risk research prior to any of these life-threatening Lithium-ion BESS being planned let alone assessed.

To date there has been a catastrophic failure by the NSW Government to address the facts.
Instead, they’re relying on garbage-in, garbage-out, fake green modelling that ignores electrical engineering facts, scientific rigour, integrity and ethics.

As various types of PFAS are now BANNED in Australia due to this high-risk, unhealthy, forever chemical group - further assurance is required that imported components, operation and disposal will not poison the public and create unacceptable environmental liabilities.

We fiercely object to this filthy BESS scam as we are extremely alarmed about lethal gas plumes, toxic hydrofluoric acid, accidental releases, firewater runoff, damaged equipment and long-term degradation and leakage that will create contamination pathways affecting soil, waterways, surrounding land uses and the public.

The assessment of this toxic disaster must require prior independent risk research and only after that proof of public health and safety as well as demonstrating robust prevention, monitoring and remediation measures as contamination pathways have not even been addressed.

There is a complete failure to consider toxic contamination of the land and water during operational life of this hazardous BESS as well as to deal with the long- term toxic waste liabilities.

Insufficient certainty has been provided regarding end-of-life management of lithium-ion batteries and associated equipment.

Future generations should never inherit unresolved waste streams, contamination risks or expensive remediation obligations and Wagga Wagga is certainly dead against that disgusting lithium-ion battery recycling facility the Authoritarian Government and Rotten Wagga Council are trying to force in their midst.

I Object on the following grounds:
• It is destructive to native flora and fauna and harmful to the public;
• Construction will leave a legacy of land destruction that is unlikely to be rectified by the builder;
• It is an abomination on the natural landscape;
• It is part of a system that costs billions, does not work reliably and attempts to solve a problem that does not exist, in other words useless and irresponsible use of public funds;
• All such infrastructures should be built at developer’s expense, NOT on public funds. We are told wind and solar are the cheapest, well prove it, remove all subsidises - do not build this system on public funds;
• The TOTAL cost has not been verified by independent experts;
• There is NO verified scientific basis for reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere so this project is a total waste of public money, along with all other such projects.  There is in fact reliable verifiable scientific proof that CO2 is beneficial to plant life and by extension to human life on earth.

We object to this non-sensical, unclean, unethical and totally irresponsible proposal as it fails to protect Intergenerational Equity and adhere to the Precautionary Principle.

Current decisions must protect environmental quality for future generations.
Long-term, irreversible toxic impacts, liabilities and irreversible changes to land use have not been factually considered.

The Agricultural and regional character assassination this filthy BESS would cause is disgusting!
Nobody wants predatory parasites dumping their POISONOUS RUIN-A-BULL JUNK everywhere!

The community must not be expected to absorb such horrendous landscape changes and contamination disasters like this when it’s all pain and no gain - with no public benefit.

The environmental assessment is a complete failure as it doesn’t even examine the complete lifecycle of this experimental, highly toxic rubbish - including unethical extraction of raw materials, slave labour linked manufacturing, insecure supply chain transportation, dangerous operation and unplanned for, uneconomical and unsafe disposal.

Partial assessments like this majorly understate the true environmental footprint and the dire cyber security risks have also been totally ignored.

This obnoxious BESS plan totally lacks reputable, independent verification of the proponent’s claims.

We object that reliance on consultant reports commissioned by the proponent does not provide adequate community confidence where significant risks have not been diligently researched at all.

Independent Expert Peer Review must be required for critical safety, environmental and emergency management matters.

The whole RenewaBULL SWINDLE including this Ticking Time Bomb BESS ignores Grid Security and National Energy Resilience.

We object that there has been no due diligence and no thorough examination of the plethora of life threatening risks by the authoritarian government.

Reliance on incapable, insecure, China reliant large-scale battery infrastructure introduces extreme system vulnerabilities.

Critical Electricity infrastructure requires immediate assessment by ASIO of National Security risks and independent expert analysis of multiple failure scenarios, very real threats to human life, bad actor replacement requirements and long-term resilience.

The claimed emissions benefits of this highly hazardous BESS are unsubstantiated and false.

Where’s the independent expert, peer reviewed evidence proving this - with the complete lifecycle analysis that includes manufacturing in China, transport from China, unregulated importation of poisonous PFAS in BESS, short term replacement, unplanned for/impossible disposal/recycling of toxic components and associated infrastructure impacts.

Emissions reductions must be demonstrated rather than assumed as all of the other aspects of the National Electricity Law objective - safety, reliability, quality and security are defied by this filthy, incapable BESS.

I object to the total lack of genuine, transparent consultation regarding this totally unacceptable, dangerous and deadly BESS plan.

Where’s the Risk Research from the sneaky, underhanded, authoritarian Government and the Independent factual analysis from trusted experts without vested interests - regarding the realistic risks, emergency procedures and long-term, irreversible impacts?

What about the Cyber Security Nightmare the Government is creating by treacherously implementing China’s Energy Dream?

Consultation requires more than informing residents after obnoxious plans like this have already been decided AGAINST OUR WILL - WITH NO SOCIAL LICENCE.

This horrible plan to poison the public, our soil, water, biodiversity and ecosystems is non-sensical and so dangerous that it seems the planners are really trying their hardest to destroy rural Australia and eliminate the public!

There’s no certainty at all about the safety, security, reliability, affordability and quality of this despicable BESS plan that’s reliant on our most hostile enemy!

Who are the vested interests who are all profiting from these ghastly swindle factories which are the antithesis of caring for country and protecting nature?

This RUIN-A-BULL RORT is NOT FOR THE GREATER GOOD as there’s no genuine benefits whatsoever!

Future generations will curse the day this moronic NSW Government and previous UNI-Party tortured its own citizens so cruelly!

I object that this poisonous ☠️ proposal has not demonstrated compatibility with the four principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development at all:-> precautionary principle, intergenerational equity, biodiversity conservation and proper valuation of environmental costs.

Clearly, the unresolved risks and uncertainties mean this incapable, seriously hazardous and life-threatening BESS BOMB DISASTER must never proceed as there are no satisfactory safeguards to protect the public from poisonous hydrogen fluoride gas and forever chemical Bis-FASI PFAS.

There is NO EVIDENCE OF ANY INDEPENDENT EXPERT RISK RESEARCH EVER BEING DONE BY THE DODGY DPHI or COMPLICIT, NON-INDEPENDENT IPCN.
