I object to Marulan Quarry on the following grounds:
*Incompatibility with Rural Lifestyle.
*Industrial Operation in a Rural Area would fundamentally disrupt the lifestyle of local residents, whose health & livelihoods depend on the healthy, peaceful rural environment.
*Dangerous Traffic Hazard
*Ignores Precious EPBC Listed Threatened Species.
*Cumulative Impacts with far too many unwanted, Hazardous, Contaminating plans already forced on the Council & Community Against Their Will.

The Marulan Quarry proposal is linked to broader, more reckless plans for further Industrialisation in the region that has extremely detrimental impacts - paving the way for more environmentally damaging developments that will put the public at serious risk & irreversibly harm Marulan’s life-sustaining land, Water & natural landscape.

The Lack of Accuracy & Comprehensive Environmental Management for Marulan Quarry does not adequately address the cumulative and long-term impacts of the quarry.
With such intrusive, large-scale operations, the impact on the local environment, Endangered Species & the community will be far more severe than the Applicant claims.

Marulan’s rural landscape and natural beauty are greatly appreciated by locals & tourists.
The presence of a noisy, dusty, traffic chaos causing industrial quarry will greatly spoil the attractiveness of the area & contaminate the environment & water systems.

I object to this unwelcome, noisy, invasive Marulan hard rock Quarry plan that would destroy the rural outlook for the local community, have extensive EPBC Threatened Species Impacts, create significantly dangerous traffic hazards & be linked to further ENVIRONMENTALLY DESTRUCTIVE, RECKLESS RUINABLE plans.
This quarry plan is just one part of a larger series of environmentally damaging developments that will cumulatively degrade the natural environment, threatening the long-term sustainability of the region's ecosystems.

The quarry's operations, including blasting, crushing and transportation, will produce substantial noise and vibration that will disturb residents, wildlife, and the quiet nature of the surrounding rural area.

The location of the quarry presents a significant Land Use Conflict as it is in close proximity to the present & future community - which will be detrimentally impacted by noise, dust, and visual pollution - that will directly affect the quality of life for the public & all the EPBC Threatened Species.

The local community & the Council have expressed clear opposition to this Quarry proposal, citing significant concerns about the environmental, traffic, and social impacts.
There is NO SOCIAL LICENCE as the broader community also have numerous concerns that are not being addressed - especially with so many dumps, quarries & ruinable scams invading the Shire.

The rural character and amenity will be destroyed by this proposed quarry as it will irreparably alter the rural landscape, stripping locals of their peaceful lifestyle and destroying the scenic vistas that are an integral part of the Marulan area's charm.

I object to this project because the council and residents have environmental & traffic concerns.
Winfarthing Road residents Graeme and Wendy Dally say a hardrock quarry proposed for the hill behind them will destroy the landscape and people's lifestyle and amenity.
The site is evidently affected by numerous constraints -
▪ The potential for land use conflict, impact on neighbouring land uses including
residential development in the vicinity.
▪Noise, vibration, dust, visual impact, traffic
and biodiversity.
▪ The cumulative impact of the proposal on the local setting, the wider Marulan area.
Respect constituents NO to this project and STOP it, it is NOT wanted.

I make this submission as a former resident of Winfarthing Road with family connections who have lived there for 43 years. I also make this submission as a qualified and practicing landscape architect with extensive experience on major projects throughout NSW.
In regards to the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, the report correctly notes the sensitive landscape and visual receivers in the area surrounding the Project.
The assessment found that the study area is characterised by relatively flat, low-lying areas, many of which are cleared for farming. This is then used to justify a lower impact rating “as the presence of machinery and construction vehicles is not as significantly out of character for the local farmlands”. While there are some cleared areas, their use for farming purposes is not correct. Almost all of these areas have not been farmed for generations and the presence of machinery and construction vehicles is out of character. Furthermore, it is understood that some of the cleared areas adjacent the project site were part of aboriginal land maintenance practices. The forested rolling hills and open valley’s with grasslands is significant landscape character value and the impact ratings in the assessment should be revised to reflect this.
The assessment also states that mitigation measures such as vegetation reduce the visual impact. However, poor local soils, low rainfall and extreme temperatures make vegetation measures deficient. The conditions do not support plant growth to the extent that they have been used to mitigate impacts of the proposal and the assessment should address this issue.

I totally object to this projectof Global quarries in Marulan. SSD-65146459.
So close to our house that it's going to impact on our HeaIth, our safety and our life. And also the wildlife. Our water tanks will be filled with Silica dust which causes Silicosis that can be disabling, cause Iung disease and also be fatal.
The noise and the traffic will be horrendous and be such a hazard.
There has been no contact with global quarries since June 2022.
No indication of blasting plan, and exclusion zones.
I came here to retire and breathe fresh air (NOT SILICA Dust) and spend quality time with my kids and grandchildren, and now they are saying if this goes ahead they will not be coming here anymore due to the dangers.

I firmly disagree with the construction and operation of the Winfarthing Road Quarry.I have been living on Winfarthing Road for 14 years, it was the best decision my family made. Moving out of town, having the ability to finally breathe in fresh clean air, drink water that wasn’t full of chemicals and all the space we had to enjoy the peace and serenity.
Some of my concerns as to why i object to the quarry are:
- As a recently obtained provisional licence holder I am heavily concerned about attempting to navigate the heavy vehicle movements. As I am limited to 90 kph, to have a truck behind me in the acceleration lane I would find it quite daunting.
- The added traffic to the already busy highway crossing and added heavy vehicles to Winfarthing Road.
- The un-natural sight of the quarry. Being an eyesore, dump and a distraction to the highway and the road. Certainly a downgrade from the beautiful landscape.
- The peace and quiet, the sounds of nature being disrupted by unnatural noises and echoes of heavy machinery and blasting.
- The high possibility of the deadly silica dust contaminating our water, polluting the air, harming not only ourselves but also our beloved pets and all other living animals.
- The higher risk of dangerous and deadly bushfires during the dry periods.
- Devaluation of all properties on the road and surrounding.
- Added light vehicles entering and exiting the road as the quarry is sure to expand.
I had always seen myself as someone who would property on Winfarthing road because of the beautiful surroundings and the peace and quiet, but it will no longer be the case if the quarry goes ahead. I would be frustrated to have worked so hard, to build my dream home on Winfarthing road just to have a quarry put front and center of my road. Destroying the nature that surrounds and disturbing the peace. I think i’d rather live in a shoe-box sized house than live in the vicinity of a loud, disruptive and frustrating quarry.
