As a near neighbour our experience of the MSF community consultation process is very difference from that described in the proposal. Near neighbours were sent a letter containing a map of the proposed power lines at a scale that in no way allowed residents determine the impact of the development on them. This was followed by a visits from the MSF community consultation officer who has not followed up on commitments made at this visit. The community consultant group meeting was poorly attended and MSF fail to demonstrate that their processes would be effective in taking on board community concerns. We are unaware of any near neighbour workshops that have been conducted. This has led to a significantly high level of distrust in MSF commitment to protecting the health, safety and amenity of nearby neighbours. We therefore request that enforceable consent conditions be included to ensure MSF undertake true community consultation with near neighbours rather than their current actions which fail to align with their claims.

Various studies have investigated power lines and cancers (such as leukaemia in children) to see if there is a causal link. Some researchers maintain that EMF generated by power lines have frequencies which are too low to influence living cells or harm DNA. Other researchers disagree. They suggest that EMF from power lines can cause significant changes in a biological system via electric fields induced in the body. Given the extremely close proximately of the new route of the upgraded power lines to residential houses the risk to children in these houses is unacceptable when the original route to the east of the residential village has already been identified. The economic benefits to the Moree community can be achieved without risking children's lives by using the power line route in the original solar farm proposal. The new proposal runs much closer to residential properties and will unnecessarily risk the lives of children simply to reduce the construction cost for the developers.
