This is a residential area.
A large 24 hour facility will negatively affect the local community and is a significant step from what was originally proposed and agreed upon by Council.
Cudgen Creek has had increasing lower water quality due to the uncovered excavated mounds as it washes into the creek during rainfall. The flood plain has been raised and otherwise altered which leads to increased water levels in the creek. This is compounded by the newly built stormwater drains emptying directly into the creek. Further development would only further increase the negative impacts on the creek.
This must NOT be allowed to be approved.

This project is entirely unnecessary, and will severely damage the surrounding ecosystems and the quality of life of ALL inhabitants of Kingscliff and Casuarina. It will be an irreversible mistake.

My major concern is proximity of this project to Cudgen Creek. A fuel station by its very nature will have an impact on a creek that enters the ocean and is utilised by thousands of locals and visitors. A business of this nature will most certainly impact the natural environment with fuel odours, spills, noise, night lights, noisy vehicles. Seriously how was this ever considered an appropriate location?

Hard NO.
This development proposal is a gross over-reach. a truck stop is not needed; there is an existing truck stop on the highway (where the trucks are) and Tweed Coast Road has load limits that would preclude this site from operating as a truck stop. You just don't put massive commercial noisy developments in the middle of suburban and rural settings. And asking to delete the noise restrictions is just beyond the pale; I'm disgusted. The Developer needs to pull their head in and stick to the rules and frameworks in place.

Dear Mr Doyle, The building of this service station and food outlets on the bank of the Cudgen Creek and bordered by farmland was a very negative approval decision given by the Land and Environment Court.
The community in the immediate vicinity of the site lobbied and gained just a few concessions with the Commissioner and they were:
* That the site would NOT operate 24hours
*There would be No illuminated signage
*The restricted operation times was to control the noise to the adjacent /adjoining properties.
Now the developer wants to modify what was handed down by the Commissioner and we have no right of appeal back to him.(hardly fair).
All other properties in the vicinity of this proposed Service Center have to comply with the Planning rules of the Tweed Shire Council and in some cases this means that only farming and maintaining a rural landscape is allowed.
Yet we are having a suburban environment thrust upon us, with decisions that are being made by the NSW Government with the new Tweed Valley Hospital (on Farmland) to the north, Salt and Casuarina to the east and now Kings Forest and Service center next door.
About time the rules were more even !
