People need jobs so by approving that's providing local jobs that's a good thing..

I oppose this application on the grounds that:
1. That the area can not be safely mined.
This is evidenced by the recent wall collapses that have occurred. Refer to Department of Mine Safety, Mr Frank Van Dijk.

2. The noise generated by this mine and associated rail transport is a major disruption to residents.

3. This mine was meant to be a "boutique mine" and to have closed and been rehabilitated by this time.
The rehabilitation performed so far is well short of the expectations of both the regulators and the community.

4. The economic benefits proposed do not outweigh the detrimental effects to NSW, both financially nor environmentally.

I urge the department to
1. Reject this application
2. Insist on the rehabilitation required to be performed
3. Make the unsafe areas created by this development safe

Further mining in this area will dramatically reduce the amenity of the local residents, cause unrepairable damage to the environment, and risk the economic future of the Gloucester Basin, which is agriculture, food production and tourism.
