Australia’s resource extraction industries have exploited us for too long. The generous tax arrangements that mean even paying decent tax rates can be avoided by accounting manipulation. How dare Whitehaven seek to increase even heavier loads which cause wear & tear to our publicly funded roads. They continue to avoid the Kamilaroi Highway overpass. How much are we taxpayers subsidising them and their filthy industry? At least stop them wrecking our roads as well as continuing to pollute our water and air and turning our country into barren waste.

Wando CCC deplores the failure of the Approvals process to require the overpass approved in 2013 above the Kamilaroi Highway linking the Whitehaven mines (and paid for by Whitehaven) to the Gunnedah Coal Handling and Preparation Plant. The ‘approval creep’ for maximum haulage loads, from 2mtpa (2013) to 3.5mtpa (September 2014) to 3.8mtpa (2025) and now a proposed 4.1mtpa (between 2026 and 2030) is unconscionable.

I object to Gunnedah Open Cuts - MOD 3 - Coal Haulage - Any increases in the amount of coal haulage will disrupt traffic on the Kamilaroi Highway more frequently and/or longer. Therefore an increase in coal haulage should require the construction of a Kamilaroi Highway overpass.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I write to support the applications made by Whitehaven Coal and Tarawonga Coal. I note that there have been a number of substantial issues which we raised for discussion and negotiation with the Applicants and that over a relatively short period of time we have been able to resolve these issues and reach agreement on those issues. We have appreciated the willingness of the Applicants to move toward such a resolution.

I support the project - it makes best sense to make use of the existing haulage route until the rail spur is built. This will mean the maximum amount of people can be employed in the mean time.

I object to this mine extension, financially it is not worth it for the local and national community, big corporations rinsing our resources for little to no benefit for the nation.
