MOD 7 Coal Wash Emplacement Design - Stage 4

I support the proposed modification to the Appin Mine.

The Appin Mine is crucial to the Illawarra region and provides broader benefits for the State of NSW, including employment, local business opportunities and support for steelmaking.

The Modification appears to be a simple and practical improvement to the already approved Stage 4 Coal Wash Emplacement Area.

I support the Modification because it is based on more detailed design work, improves the final landform and water management arrangements, and does not materially change the impacts of the already approved emplacement area.

The Modification would also support best-practice outcomes for coal wash emplacement design and rehabilitation in the Illawarra mining region.

For these reasons, I support the Modification being approved.

My family (3 sons) are all employed by organisations that service the Appin Coal mine. Met Coal is an essential product for the Illawarra region.

Ongoing mining in the Illawarra supports our local economy and other industries
