I totally object to the wind farm on the grounds of unreasonable visual impact. It will turn the pristine valley of Abercrombie into an eyesore. I can not understand why the site was chosen, it will stick out like a sore thumb and totally destroy the harmony and prestige of the valley. I also bring to your attention, what will the local Landholders get out of this development outside of a reduction in our home and land prices, we already pay an average of $300 a year on our power bills to support green energy. After living in the valley for some time I have noticed it can get extremely windy to the point on average the Farm would not be generating power for around 4 months of the year due to high amounts of wind. I am totally confused that another more productive site with less impact can not be found.

I am, in principal, supportive of exploring alternatives to coal- sourced electricity and would like to see coal-fired electricity generation phased out as soon as possible.
I believe that a LIMITED recourse to wind power, in areas where NO local residents are affected and there is maximised use of SOLAR energy, to be the most constructive alternatives.
My objections to the Paling Yards project are listed below:
i) The number of turbines has yet to be fixed; this vacillates between 55 and 60 according to sources. Reported estimates of both audial and visual impact cannot accurately be calculated until the number is finalised.
ii) The visual impact can never be fully assessed. There has to be an element of subjectivity here: for example, from my property I will be looking straight at the windfarm and all 55-60 turbines will be visible. The hills I have been looking at for the past 60-odd years will lose their natural silhouettes and become a site for an ever-present reminder of technology entirely at odds with the surroundings, the iconic views, and the topography and history of the region, which has lately become a very popular tourist destination by reason of its wilderness appeal.
iii) My most pressing concern, and a source of great anxiety, is the noise impact. Despite the pages of calculations in the report based on computer modelling, you cannot possibly guarantee that 55-60 turbines will not generate a constant source of low-range but all-pervasive noise that will invade the peace and silence I have enjoyed all my life. No tests have been carried out on my property, for a start, to assess whether the noise will carry the 5 or 6 kilometres distance ( as the crow flies). None of the modelling I saw in the proposal shows how and to what extent the noise generated will be increased in periods of very high winds, and the range and frequencies which will potentially be produced. I challenge you to produce transparent, accessible data which will reassure me that in such times, I will not be able to hear the sound of the turbines when there is a strong wind blowing from the north west. Conversely, when there is little or no wind, you should demonstrate to my satisfaction that a low, consistent hum will not be audible when I am standing at my front gate.
iv) Lastly, as I have mentioned above, what has been recently named the "Tablelands Way" , passing through the nearby village of Taralga, is attracting an increasing number of tourists. A windfarm is patently at odds with the expectations of visitors who come to appreciate and study local wildlife, eucalyptus forests and views of just this type. There is insufficient justification in the argument that the 'few must suffer for the good of the many". This is a money-making venture which will be of great benefit to the two or three landholders hosting the scheme, and to Union Fenosa, a Spanish-owned company. There are better and more efficient ways of generating the same amount of electricity which will be far less detrimental to local residents and leave this very beautiful area unspoilt.

I object to the application by Union Fenosa for the development of another subsidised wind farm development that would ultimately contribute to increased electricity prices by necessitating further base load generating support.
Australians are currently being required to tighten their belts across the board and these developers are holding out their hand to those same Australian citizens who are expected to pay higher electricity prices and to the Australian taxpayers who are funding cheap poor credit finance.
Union Fenosa's application must be dismissed.

The rather small amount of time provided to submit objections to the application for the windfarms and the massive powerlines along Taralga road are of great concern to the residence owners in general and reflect poorly upon the organisation who intend to implement the plan. It is likely that those of us in objection to this will mount a series of protest while also denying access to our land or any parts of it that will need to be accessed in order for the infrastructure to be placed. It will be our intention to gather media attention highlighting the small window of opportunity given to make submissions against the windfarms and powerlines. It is likely that all persons who will be affected will have independant property valuations carried out upon their land. That will highlight the before and after affects of the windfarms and powerlines. This will be then later used in evidence if required by the courts. Areas that will be of great concern will be the health impact, due to lack of sleep, noise, glint, affect if any on livestock, any assoicated illness affecting quality of life, particularly cancer that may result from 500 kv powerlines and windfarms. The evidence is already proven that Powerlines within direct line of sight are responsible for cancer to those subjected to exposure. I have a duty as a father to protect my children from any harm it was no mistake that I desired a rural lifestyle for them with the added benifits of that lifestyle. I did not spend 17 1/2 years in the Royal Australian Infantry and deploy on 3 operational tours to be finaly able to afford to buy my little farm and have a much deserved desireable lifestyle for your organisation to breeze through and attempt to impose your will on the people of Taralga and Crookwell and the surrounding area. Any affect upon my, family - children, lifestyle, income, property, mental health or general health affected by any adverse conditions imposed by your organisation will be dealt with.
