In May 2023 it was reported that the then existing space of 15,318 square metres was inadequate for the museum and the new plans would improve this. We now learn that the new plan will provide 7500 square metres of space. It's hard to believe this is true. However, if it is, it cannot be considered an improvement or an acceptable outcome. To *halve* the space of the Powerhouse is simply wrong and cannot be allowed. I strongly object to the project.

Very pleased with the amendments to the design and continue to support this revitalisation project which will enhance the area and is consistent with Pyrmont and Ultimo strategy plan.

The new Exemption Order for Powerhouse Museum Complex listing on the SHR No. 02045 under the Heritage Act 1977 does not protect the unique nature of the Powerhouse buildings, spaces and industrial collection location. It seems to give “carte blanche” permission to permanently change the Powerhouse from its industrial past to just an exhibition space for arts and fashion. “Revitalisation” seems to be code for change it completely from the POWHRHOUSE” to a general arts and fashion exhibition space.

Many of the valued collections have been moved from the building during preparation for redevelopment including the irreplaceable Locomotive No 1 and the 1785.Boulton and Watt rotative steam engine with no commitment to return them to their original location. This has put them at great risk.

The removal of these industrial artefacts, changes to the building structure and overly long of the museum should have been avoided.

If the money to “revitalise” is to be spent it should be to retain the existing POWERHOUSE character and used to make other MAAS locations more for arts and fashion exhibits. The POWERHOUSE should be related to only industrial museum items
