This is an imported toxic waste of taxpayers funds. Electricity users will be get no benefit from this project. Electricity consumers need affordable reliable sources of electricity 24/7.
Are any of the components of this BESS manufactured by slave labour? What assurances will be available to confirm all components of the batteries have been ethically sourced/manufactured? Where will the batteries be dumped when they reach the end of their life? What is the experience world wide for how BESS thermal runaway is treated? Is the fire simple left to burn out? Is there going to be a designated fire team to used the water in the 40,000 litre tank or is the tank simply for virtue signalling? Are the 17 plus neighbouring residences aware of the risk of toxic smoke during a thermal runaway event.
Has the developer leased more than the area of the BESS from the private landowner? If so why? Future solar project? or is it to improve the balance sheet?
Developers have a track record of not advising neighbours of the planned development: do all the 17 neighbours under 4 km from the project even know about the BESS? Was the night lighting impact on the neighbours assessed. How will the cooling fans be powered to keep the temperature controlled within the BESS? Do the fans have to run 24/7? Will the noise of the fans be heard at neighbouring residences? If the fans need to run 24/7 will the electricity used by produced by gas or coal?

I object to this proposal.
It poses a health & environmental hazard for surrounding land and people, especially in the event of a fire.
It is a massive waste of taxpayer subsidies for something that doesn’t even generate power or provide backup power needed in the event of a renewable energy wind/solar drought.
Go Nuclear NOW. Stop this madness.

I object to this proposal due to fire risks, toxic pollution and waste. The system is not going to work as a power system that is required.

How much tax payer funds are being paid to this developer to build this imported toxic waste on agricultural land?
This is an unrecyclable fire hazard that is designed to suck up as many subsidies as possible.
Nowhere else in the world is an economy planning to thrive on renewable energy and batteries. This BESS is an environmental and economic disaster.

This project is not in the public interest.
Covering agricultural land with batteries is not in the public interest.
40,000 litres of water will not extinguish a fire in this BESS and the risk of a thermal runaway event is significant. Will the local volunteer RFS brigades be called out to a fire in this BESS? What impact will the toxic smoke from battery fire have on the neighbouring residents? Are the 17 non associated neighbours, less than 4 km from the project, aware that they are at increased risk of fire and the resulting toxic smoke from batteries that will have to be left to burn out as no amount of water will extinguish a fire event in a BESS.
How long will these batteries last? Where will the batteries be dumped when they have reached the end of their life span.
Are the people of Parkes and the neighbours of this BESS even aware of the project? Energy developers have a track record for poor community consultation therefore it is likely that the neighbours within 4 km of this project have no idea of the planned BESS.

I have a big concern with this project due to my objections to wind and solar farms and their affects on migratory birds and the threat turbines have for these birds. Wind turbines also generate infrasound that effects the behavior of other native animals.
Apart from the environmental effect to wild life there is also the treat of bush fires caused by malfunctioning turbines and batteries which affects neighboring properties and the local volunteers in the CFA.
Neither solar or wind turbines produce enough energy to warrant the building of this battery energy storage system.

I object to wind farm and solar farms for many reasons, including, it ruins the natural landscape, having large white metallic objects in the sky ruins the natural beauty and solar panels covering the ground and stopping natural growth due to shading. Wind farms, in particular, are inefficient considering the small amount of wind the area gets and therefore would be a waste of money. This means that battery energy storage systems are unnecessary without even going into the issues they cause themselves.

My main objections to Ridgey Creek BESS are as follows.
1. The Paris Agreement states that Agricultural Land is to be protected from the type of development proposed. That is utilising grazing but more importantly arable land to establish Battery Industrial Complexes.
Only 4 per cent to 6 per cent of Australia's land mass is arable.
2. Much of the development money is from a Chinese Company connected to The Chinese Communist Party and therefore The Chinese Governnment. Australia has already witnessed how China treats other nations who question
their policies. To have The P. R. C. construct power systems for Australia seems ludicrous. Particularly as these systems do not provide reliable power and at the same time make China stronger and weaken Australia.
3. The hoped for introduction of AUKUS must surely point out the need for a Nuclear Power Industry particularly for South Australia.
4. When both the Federal and State Governments wake up to the fact that we are living in The Nuclear Age one would hope that the unbridled spread of these unreliable tax payer subsidised operations providing unreliable power would be limited.
5. What agency when common sense prevails is going to remove these installations that are a blight on our wonderful Australian landscape and are making a few wealthy and the majority of Australians poorer in a number of ways.

Get the Royal Commission investigating China Immediately, meaning a Premier NSW to be under investigation Immediately for Enabling a Toxic Future not Clean at all.
Parkes. Do You Know It's Major Farmlands, gov.au ? Yes you do. It's in the planning portal notes on Ridgey Creek BESS , Parkes.
Get Off My Nation I Need Clean and Organic and Biodynamic for us All to Benefit into Forever, once we get this Hideous Harming Horrible Unaware Disgraceful Misinforming Disinforming Indoctrinating government out.
Right. BESS. Ban BESS Immediately and know Why. Don't you Know Why ? Of course you Do but don't, do you, because You Don't Farm On Country and Never Have, Have You, You Horrible People in government.
In government. Controlling everything yet Quite Ignorant about Catchments and Why is a Question, Why. A Question.

BESS, a Toxic infrastructure capable of Leakage you see.
Ban BESS Immediately.
Demand a Royal Commission into the BESS Made by who ? China ? Is it Clean and Green, Hey you lot in gov.au ? Of course it Isn't. Yet You, gov.au, Import Toxic Substance Infrastructure Into My Nation but Claim Clean. Oops. Big Mistake.
Get Out Now, gov.au because you are, Note Are, Are, Fully Responsible for Harm and Loss to Environment All On Country Environment for No reason.
Parkes is a place Rooftops Only should supply Electricity. Get it ?
You don't know that do you, you in the government supporting Renewables On Country On Farmlands In Wilderness In Oceans Why , when Rooftops ONLY is the ONLY place for Renewables Circulating continually energy supplied by infrastructure On Rooftops Only. No BESS required

The visual impact of the transmission lines will detract from the natural beauty of the landscape. This could negatively impact local tourism and our overall quality of life. Fire risks associated with the BESS are a major concern. Communities are already vulnerable to bushfires, and this project could increase that risk in the area significantly. Very worrying is the toxic smoke from a BESS fire that could burn for day/weeks

The transmission lines required for the BESS will cut through important habitats of the endangered Squirrel Glider (Petaurus norfolcensis), further threatening their survival. Parks community is home to the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater (Anthochaera phrygia). The disruption caused by the BESS and its associated infrastructure could have catastrophic effects on their dwindling population

As a parent, I worry about the long-term health implications for my children. The constant exposure to noise and potential pollutants from the BESS could have lasting effects on their development and well-being. I worry for my grandchildren that may live in the area . Additionally, the endangered Grey-headed Flying Fox (Pteropus poliocephalus) in this area could be severely affected by habitat disruption.

I am particularly concerned about the impact on the critically endangered Frogs. The disruption of their habitat could have severe consequences for their already declining population. Australia is home to more than 240 different frog species, many of which are not found anywhere else on Earth. Close to 20% of Australian frogs are threatened In the last 25 years, 6 have already been listed as extinct. Every species that disappears is a sign of biodiversity decline.
Many threatened frog species are unlikely to survive without help

The transmission lines that will inevitably come with the Bess will cut through pristine areas, destroying habitats and leading to soil erosion and other environmental issues. We must protect our natural landscapes from such intrusive developments. There is a huge worries about fires.
