This is to further support my earlier submission: lodged last week
There is peak undue disturbance on a weekly basis, particularly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, from amplified entertainment conducted in the open-air nightclub that is located on the UNESCO Heritage Listed Lower Forecourt of the Sydney Opera House;
It appears that the Opera Bar is breaking all the rules in the book to conduct a liquor sales business in a UNESCO Heritage Listed site;
We cannot find any DA lodged for selling alcohol at the Opera Bar in the first instance;
it appears that the Opera Bar is selling alcohol illegally in a public place as no one authority, including Sydney Opera House, is able to produce a DA to support this business;
it appears that the licence to sell alcohol has been sub-leased from Sydney Opera House to a third party;
there is no way of accounting the number of patrons at this venue due to the open public thoroughfare area where the alcohol is served and consumed in;
the public area is packed with up to 5,000 patrons with 5 exits in place;
in an emergency evacuation situation, there is no way 5,000 patrons will be able to safely exit this area if 1m is required for each 100 patrons;
I feel this is a disaster waiting to happen.

I am strongly opposed to this application and reject it based on the following:
1. inconsistencies and an Inaccurate Acoustic Report lodged in the DA;
2. Strongly disagree with the details supporting the EIS lodged;
3. If approved the Heritage and historical significance of the UNESCO listed Sydney Opera House will be greatly impacted and in my opinion this is a major issue for the people of Sydney as well as the Sydney Opera House and its identity.
4. The proposal is not in keeping with Utzon's Design Principles;
5. The proposal is not in keeping with Statement of National Heritage Values (NHV) of the SOH;
6. The proposal is not in keeping with the SOH original Conservation Management Plan (CMP) of 2003.
7. I strongly disagree with the major undercover public thoroughfare access to Sydney Opera House being commercialised. It seems to be a pure drive for profits from alcohol sales and drinkers rather than people who are coming to the opera house for its true intended use.

I am deeply concerned about the Opera House Trust use of the public property through which thousands of Sydney residents and tourists pass through (The Opera House Lower Forecourt) for use as a Bar (Opera Bar) and Restaurant (Opera Kitchen). After a performance, the passageway is crowded with tables, chairs and patrons that impede access. In addition, the Trust allows excessive noise including loud music, overcrowding (particularly on the weekends), and bar/restaurant staff that cross this access walkway with food and drinks. For a National Icon such as the Opera House, this situation is a travesty. It is difficult to believe that I have to walk walk my children and elderly parents through this chaos to reach the Opera House for a symphony, chaos that reaches from the car Wilson Car Park entry/exit to the Opera House Forecourt all the way to the escalator that takes one up to the Opera House itself.
In addition, I am strongly rejecting this application based on following points:

I strongly object to the referred Development Application lodged on behalf of the Sydney Opera House being approved for the following reasons:
1. The proposal does not respect the design principles formally outlined by the design architect Jorn Utzon and endorsed by the authorities responsible for the management of the Opera House and the surrounding precinct;
2. The subject of the proposed development does not comply with the formal Statement of Heritage Values of the Sydney Opera House enshrined in the charter of the managing body;
3. Approval of the subject proposal will diminish the heritage and historical significance of the UNESCO listed world heritage site;
4. The details submitted in support of the Application are biased and flawed; and
5. The acoustic report accompanying the application is demonstrably inaccurate.

I strongly disagree with the commercialisation of the major undercover public thoroughfare access to Sydney Opera House. The Opera House Trust's use of this thoroughfare as a bar and restaurant is endangering the safety and wellbeing of the thousands of Sydney residents and tourists who need to traverse this path to reach the Opera House itself. The area is excessively noisy and crowded to the extreme, with chairs and tables, patrons and bar/wait staff impeding access all the way from the Wilson carpark entry to the Forecourt to the escalator access to the Opera House. To walk children, the elderly and disabled patrons of the arts through this mess is highly inappropriate and disrespectful of our national icon.
