I object to the fact that the walking path underneath the planned works will be closed for which is likely a long time (not counting the inevitable delays). This path is used by a significant number of commuters (including me) on a daily basis and for recreational use throughout the week by locals and visitors. It is a well known attraction to tourists and other visitors who walk along the harbour foreshore. I believe the project should be conditional on the construction of an alternative coastal walking path during the construction.

I note that on Page 18 of the Construction Management Plan it states: "During demolition and construction there will be a requirement to close the coastal path for some period of time, due to its proximity to building works which will cause work health and safety conflicts. It is noted some parts of the coastal path are underneath the existing station. The length of time will not be known until a head contractor is awarded. Alternative routes will be worked through with Mosman Council and appropriately sign posted and advertised."

For twenty or so years until my retirement I used this path almost every weekday morning and evening on my commute to the city. Many other people use it as part of their commute as well. I also use it frequently in my retirement. Finally, I note that it is a part of the world class Bondi to Manly walk that is a major drawcard for locals and tourists. Given this, I consider it should be a condition of the project's approval that it incorporate the construction of an appropriate temporary structure to enable the coastal path to continue to be used during the construction process. Such temporary structures are routinely used in similar situations in built up areas to allow pedestrians to continue using walkways and I can see no reason why one could not be used here. I also note that there are no obvious alternatives for pedestrians that would not involve a high level of inconvenience.
