I raise concern that the proposed bulk, which has this new Science and Engineering Building projecting past the line of the adjoining vertical louvered building, is an appropriate built form/urban design solution as the proposal is identical in detail to its neighbour - the Material Science and Engineering Building. So what are we to make of this step in wall line and the new north-east corner?

While little to no explanation is given aas to the justification of this arrangement, the strategy seems is ill-considered in terms of promoting a strong urban design led campus especially if the intention is to demonstrate how the UNSW is to improve its sequence of public open spaces: as a sequence defined by a distinct figural spaces. All too often the urban design order is weakened by 'object buildings'.
An urban design assessment is indeed lacking.
