Enhancements to the Major Projects service
This release included the following changes to the Major Projects service:
- Modifications to a State Significant Development or State Significant Infrastructure application, were in limited cases, experiencing an incorrect automatic expiry after 24 months of the Secretary’s environmental assessment requirements (SEARs) being last issued. This has now been corrected, and applicants can lodge modification reports at any time after SEARS are issued.
- The Industry Specific Secretary’s environmental assessment requirements (IS-SEARs) for Section 26 of Schedule 1 of the Planning Systems SEPP 2021 have been updated to issue the correct Housing IS-SEARs document.
- Updates have been made to the options available for selection in the Schedule 2 of the Planning Systems SEPP 2021 in the ‘Statutory context’ screen in the pre-development application:
- ‘Section 10’ has been renamed to: Section 10 - Development at NSW Land and Housing Corporation Sites (Repealed)
- ‘Section 17’ has been renamed to ‘Section 17 - Development at Warrawong Site’ and is eligible for IS-SEARs
- ‘Section 18 – Development in Cherrybrook Station Government Land State Significant Precinct Site’ has been added
- ‘Section 19 - Development in Accelerated TOD Precincts’ has been added.
- A new field, ‘HDA EOI number’ has been added to the ‘Statutory Context’ screen in pre-development applications. This field is mandatory when the Development type is ‘HDA Housing’ and applies to all pre-development applications started after the release on 29 August 2025.
Bugs and fixes
This release included the following minor fixes to address known technical issues including:
- When a BASIX project transfer request is approved, the status displayed for the BASIX application on the dashboard is ‘Approved’.
- When a user wants to revise a migrated BASIX certificate, the revised BASIX certificate number will be in the correct format.
- A new document type, ‘Council DA checklist’, has been added to the consent authority required documents (CARDs) functionality.
- A validation has been applied to the field ‘Please provide portal application number’ to ensure that certificate registration reference numbers related to a complying development certificate have been previously registered.
- The ‘DCS Building Work Levy’ payment amount shown in the 'Amount due' field on the payment screen and related Fee Estimate, displays the final estimated building work levy.
- Amendment to the timing of the ‘Intent to request Gateway Review’ reminder notification in the Planning Proposals Online service. This will now be sent 10 days after the Gateway determination has been completed.
Application Programming Interface (API)
Minor housekeeping updates were made to the Application Programming Interface (APIs). There is no urgency for councils and certifiers using these APIs to implement these changes, they could be included in your next scheduled API upgrade. The changes are:
- The attributes ‘determinationOutcome’ and ‘caseCurrentStage’ have been added to the ‘UpdateDA’ and ‘GetCaseInfoSync’ operations in Online DAv2, Online complying development certificate v1 and Online Post Consent Certificate v1 APIs.
- Attributes 'documentCaseID’ and ‘documentTags’ have been added to all operations that contain a document block within the Online DA v2 and Online Post Consent Certificate v1 APIs.
- A validation for attribute ‘ExistingNSWPortalCRNumber’ has been expanded to ensure that the certificate registration number related to a complying development certificate input in the field ‘Please provide portal application number’ has been previously registered. This change has been made to the Online Certificate registration v1 API.
