Objecting to the project. The development is completely out of scale with the local area and homes.

Dear Planning Assessment Team,
I am writing to voice my support for the redevelopment of the site located at 142–160 Oxford Street in Paddington.
From an urban planning perspective, this proposal appears to represent a sensible intensification of housing within an already well-established inner-city location. Paddington is a suburb with excellent access to transport, employment centres, schools and retail services, making it an ideal place for additional residential dwellings.
The project also seeks to replace buildings that have been identified as intrusive within the heritage conservation area. Introducing a carefully designed building with architectural references to the historic character of Paddington will significantly improve the quality of this section of Oxford Street.
Another important aspect of the proposal is the provision of affordable housing, which will be managed by Evolve Housing. Ensuring that lower and moderate income households can access housing in well-serviced areas is an important part of maintaining balanced and inclusive communities.
Overall, the development appears to respond positively to both local planning controls and broader housing needs across Sydney. Delivering additional homes in appropriate locations is an important part of addressing the housing challenges facing the city.
For these reasons, I support the proposal.

I am writing to provide my support for the proposed development at 142-160 Oxford Street in Paddington.
The project presents an opportunity to transform a collection of outdated buildings into a cohesive and well-designed residential development that responds to both the architectural heritage and contemporary housing needs of Sydney.
From a design perspective, the proposal appears to have been carefully developed. Paddington is known for its distinctive heritage character and it is encouraging to see that the design incorporates materials and forms that reflect this context. A high-quality sandstone facade and thoughtful architecture detailing will ensure the building complements the surrounding area rather than detracting from it.
Equally important is the role this development will play in helping Sydney;s ongoing housing shortage. Providing additional apartments in a location with such strong amenity makes sense from a planning perspective. Residents will be close to shops, public transport, employment and centres and community service, which supports more sustainable urban living.
The inclusion of affordable housing within the project is another major benefit. Providing well-designed homes at reduced rents ensure that people who contribute to the local community are able to continue living in the area.

Hello,
I’m writing to express my support for the redevelopment proposed at 142–160 Oxford Street in Paddington.
From what I understand, the project will replace several aging buildings that currently detract from the surrounding heritage area. Introducing a well-designed residential development in their place should significantly improve the appearance and quality of the street.
Paddington is already a vibrant and well-connected suburb with excellent access to transport, shops, cafes and employment opportunities. Providing additional housing in such locations makes a lot of sense from a planning perspective.
I’m also pleased to see that the project includes affordable housing managed by Evolve Housing. Developments that provide opportunities for people on a range of incomes help maintain diverse and inclusive communities.
The architectural design also appears thoughtful and respectful of the surrounding heritage context, particularly through the use of materials that reference Paddington’s historic character.
Overall, I believe the redevelopment will deliver meaningful improvements to the site and contribute positively to the broader neighbourhood.
Best regards,
Tom Dacayo
