I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because there is already a Powerhouse Museum, in a Central location, at Ultimo and to move it to Parramatta would come at further cost to the heritage of Parramatta, with the destruction of historic Willow Grove and St Georges Terraces.
It seems a 'no-brainer' to leave the Power house Museum in its present location and let Parramatta keep it's heritage buildings and realise the existing Parramatta Council vision for a public square alongside the river.
There is then the opportunity to create a brilliant Museum and cultural destination at historic Cumberland Hospital Precinct in North Parramatta.
Growing up in the Parramatta area, I saw many beautiful old buildings disappear from Parramatta. The city has become a glass and concrete jungle, with few reminders of its heritage and a subsequent loss of ambience.
Once these buildings are gone they cannot be replaced and Parramatta has lost another layer of its history. Please stop this destruction and leave these buildings alone and the Powerhouse Museum in its current location. If the Powerhouse Museum has to be moved, live it somewhere else. However, its current location has proven it's worth. It is already well located. Yes, the land may be valuable and some company be willing to pay mega bucks for it. However, no matter how much they are willing to pay, our heritage is not for sale.
It is really such a simple issue, the need to preserve our history, to remember our roots. Yet, it seems to be for sale and that we, the people, have no say in the matter. To destroy these buildings and deny the vision of the Council, seems an act of wanton destruction.
Leave Parramatta its heritage and the little grace and ambience it has been able to retain. It cannot afford to lose more and not can we, who can already see what's been lost.
How to convince people who are set on destruction for short term gain that reminders of history and heritage once gone, cannot be replaced. Life is not just about money and big business. It is about quality of life and knowing where we came from. It's in your hands.
Please:
Leave the Powerhouse Museum at Ultimo, where it is well placed for all Sydneysiders. Located at it is it speaks of a progressive Sydney. At Parramatta, it would forever be linked with destruction,
Keep Willow Grove and St Georges Terraces, create a public square by the river, in line with Council's vision
Finally create a brilliant Museum and cultural destination at historic Cumberland Hospital Precinct in North Parramatta. My aunt died there, give the place some joy, to lighten the sadness that happened within its walls.
Our past matters please do not destroy it. If we forget where we came from how can we know where we are going?
Once more, it's in your hands. Please do not support the destruction of our past. There is no real need, just a desire - or so it seems - to destroy for destruction's sake. If the Powerhouse Museum has to be moved - though who would understand why, unless in monetary terms - then move it somewhere else and leave Parramatta's heritage alone, safe from these destructive impulses.
NB: Please print only my name and suburb, not my full address details, nor my phone number. I do not give permission for the publication of any of my details, beyond my name and suburb.
Thank You.

I 'oppose the demolition' of St George's Terrace and Willow Grove in Parramattta.
These two beautiful buildings are a valuable and significant part of the local history in the Parramatta district and for all Australians.
These buildings are part of our great Australian heritage. They should be preserved and continually recognised accordingly.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because it will destroy two beautiful and significant heritage buildings . There are other possible sites for the Powerhouse Museum without destroying beautiful and significant heritage buildings .

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..there has been too much heritage buildings lost to development already. The Willow Grove and St George Terrace is one of the last remaining heritage buildings and is only a small area of Parramatta.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..
Heritage is irreplaceable. Don't go down in history as being part of the team responsible for one of the worst planning mistakes in Parramatta's long history.
So much has been lost already.
Please be the voice for all of us who cherish the rich history of our country that Parramatta holds. Once it's gone...it's gone forever.

I object to the proposal for many reasons - place, purpose, policy and political manipulation. Although the decision to relocate the Powerhouse Museum to Parramatta has been changed, I wish to voice my objection should it be revived by the very powerful arts lobby.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because to demolish heritage listed buildings is a horrendous proposition. Having grown up in Parramatta I constantly bewail the destruction of our heritage - so much has been lost.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..character buildings and their past history is so important to our children now and in the future.Demolishing our history is a soulless unintelligent and ignorant act .This is not a democratic pursuit, because it has not been put forward into a referendum according to our constitution.
