This will support local jobs and will continue to provide a cheaper option for energy.

I support this project, as my husband works in the mining industry and we don't want him having to leave his family to work away to support us financially. This will also affect a lot of families and businesses locally.

It's important we keep Clarence Colliery open, Lithgow is not ready for 200 + jobs to be removed from the workforce and will force unnecessary relocations, family separations and mental health issues. Lithgow cannot sustain that amount of unemployment.

This proposal seeks to extend coal mining operations for another five years when Australia and NSW urgently need to reduce reliance on coal, not approving extended coal extraction. To avoid dangerous climate change this proposal needs to be rejected by all levels of government.
Mining and burning coal prolongs the environmental damage already affecting our waterways. landforms and climate.
This proposal is not appropriate for the Gardens of Stone region and for NSW.
If the extension is approved despite community opposition, it must come with these five strict conditions:
Link approval to the upgrade of the Lidsdale coal unloader. This critical infrastructure would reduce reliance on the polluting, wet Springvale mine.
Reject the continued approval of 300,000 tonnes of coal by truck. There is no justification for extending years of heavy truck movements through the Blue Mountains and Sydney. Rail is available and should be mandatory.
Acknowledge the real impacts of truck transport. The claim of “no or negligible” impacts does not reflect the experience of communities dealing with noise, traffic, diesel pollution and road safety risks from over 7000 truck trips every year.
Prioritise local use over export. Most Clarence coal is exported. If extraction continues, it should supply Mount Piper Power Station to avoid pressure for new coal from more damaging mines in the region.
Strengthen rehabilitation requirements. Existing rehabilitation commitments are outdated and inadequate. Any extension must impose modern, enforceable rehabilitation standards.

I support it, as it going to help the Lithgow community viable and maintains employment for 400 plus people.Also providing coal to the most viable power generation system at Mount Piper power station.
