I have lived in the Hunter region for 22 years and have always been aware that the coal mining industry provides an immense amount of support and jobs for the local communities.

With MOD 8 approval, MACH Energy’s Mount Pleasant Operation will play a major part in supporting the Muswellbrook, Scone, Singleton, and surrounding communities through the shutdown of mine sites such as BHP Mt Arthur and Glencore’s Mangoola site in less than 5 years time. Mount Pleasant will ensure families of the region can continue with job security and financial stability through uncertain times.

Mount Pleasant has contributed upwards of $2 million dollars to support local organisations to date and has made over $650 million in NSW royalty contributions since the projects commencement.

Personally, Mount Pleasant Operation has accelerated my environmental career to a level I never thought possible. Being assisted through my University degree, gaining real world knowledge and experience in my role, being surrounded by dedicated industry professionals and being apart of an amazing workplace culture is something I am extremely grateful for. My employment at Mount Pleasant Operation has opened numerous opportunities to me, and has allowed me to reach goals that would not be possible under other circumstances.

Mount Pleasant has a strong relationship with local schools and programs to provide work experience opportunities (like mine) and facilitates tours on site. With high apprentice and trainee intakes annually, Mount Pleasant is a site that supports the development of young adults and their introduction into the workforce after highschool.

Mount Pleasant Operation is always striving to be industry leaders in technological innovation, environmental performance through its high quality of rehabilitation and positive relationship with the local community, its health and safety performance, and much more. I have worked at Mount Pleasant for 10 months. I am 58 years old and have two kids. I support MOD 8 it is an important project, for me my family and my local communities. MOD 8 provides continuous business opportunities to local communities through its own operations and its employees. It secures the future job security and financial stability of myself and my neighbourhood families. This will ensure that the local communities can continuous prosperous and contribute to the overall wellbeing of NSW.
