Hello,
The previous design (before Mod 2) promised shared user pathways considerate of and connected to the Bays Precinct Master lan. It promised connectivity between the light rail. cycleways, the ferry wharf and the future Metro West.
The previous design promised people-friendly access to the foreshore.
These previous features were the only thing that got this proposal over the line. The changes in MOd 2 destroy these benefits.
Please. I urge you most strenuously to reconsider the changes that see above-ground concrete structures dominate the landscape and bisect the area. Please reinstate the original plans. Were they lies from the outset?
Enlightened cities are moving away from such car-dominant infrastructure (which sees pedestrians, cycling infrastructure, and green spaces come a poor second).
The trees in Buruwan park are three lifetimes old. How dare you raze them with the stroke of a pen. Such tree canolpies are vital to a liveable city as summer extremes become increasingly hazardous. How can this variation be ethical or even legal?
I implore you to reject Mod 2 and reistate what we understood to be the plan.
Regards,
Carol Johns
