I object to the Qld-Hunter Gas Pipeline Mod 1 and advise the Dept of
Planning and Environment to let the original application lapse. The
Dept of planning is well aware that the proposed (very controversial)
Narrabri Gas Project is the most protested project ever, and if
democracy still exists then it and any proposed pipelines should not
be approved.
We have enough gas all we need is a Government with the guts to stop
the Gas Companies sucking up our domestic supply for export.

Why prostitue Australias resources to China and beyond. WOuld you
prostitue your grandmothers sovereignty? NO. I thought not. Leave CSG
underground. It's dirty, dangerous and a last desperate grab at energy
which we don't need right now. There has to be other alternatives,
(why not nuclear?) We have uranium right? Australia is a dry and arid
continent and will only get drier due to ecological changes in the
environment, imagine these exposed pipelines and gas wells during
heatwaves and rapid fire extensions throughout bushland. It's just
dangerous and hazardous. The idiots will say just clear the bushland
with so many hundreds of meters from these gas points, that's just
more SACRED flora and fauna lost to greedy dirty gas to china which
our planners and governments have flittered away cheaply for the
chance to buy useless rubbish from foreign shores. There just has to
be another way? Surely there's ways to reduce the amount of energy
that businesses and residents consume, look at education and
incentives for using less heating and cooling. We just seem to waste
so much energy doing things that don't need to be heated or cooked or
cooled. Conservation on so many fronts needs to be paramount. Most
importantly conservation of our wild flora and fauna, conservation of
our resources for the future of Australia. There might come a time
when we really need to have this energy in our pocket. Look at
conserving our dignity, we are a proud nation that doesn't need to
exploit our wonderful country. Our wild and beautiful nature for dirty
gas. Our artesian water is sacrescent, formed over millions of years ,
I would just die at the thought that in my lifetime I did nothing to
prevent the contamination of this lifeblood of Australia. Not for me,
but for the future of Australians. We have already wrought too much
pain on this country of ours, please consider what I say, and I hope
your conscience will be clear.

I object to this last minute attempt to keep this dangerous and
unnecessary pipeline a reality. The work has not been done by the
approved timeline so the approval should lapse. This pipeline would
endanger farmland, bushland and river systems. The surrounding
environment has changed in the ten years since approval was first
granted and at the very least a whole new approval process should be
undertaken to acknowledge these changes. Thank you.

I strongly object to the construction of the Hunter CSG pipeline. Please
note the company has not done any environmental assessment or impact,
they are driven by profit making. The pipeline and fracking is not
safe and will create an environmental disaster. It will pollute prime
farming land and destroy the water table and our river systems. When
disasters occur or the mining company purposely pollute the areas that
they mining or have their pipelines in, they leave their mess for the
Australia citizens to have to live with. Gas is extremely dangerous
once it ignites it cannot be put out. Australians want safe and
environmental friendly energy sources such as solar & wind. The gas
pipeline and fracking only serves the gas companies monetary desires.
The proposed pipeline will be a national disaster and will destroy the
environment and the health of people not only in the communities that
are affected but even those beyond, destroying farming land and water
sources.

The Hunter gas pipeline was approved ten years ago and given a ten year
deadline to begin construction or the approval would lapse.
If within this 10 years the pipeline company could not or would not
begin construction it should lapse as initially outlined to them. This
is not a surprise - the lapse in approval would mean the approvals
process would need to commence again - which would give people the
chance to comment on the proposal with 10 years worth of knowledge and
environmental impacts in mind.
Projects such as these should not hang over land, communities and
local economies without a reasonable deadline - 10 years is VERY
reasonable and no further extensions should be granted.
As mentioned if there has been no movements on construction of this
project in that time frame - it should therefore end within the
original time frame NO QUESTION.

This pipeline traverses ten local government areas, crossing several
rivers and beautiful farmland and bushland between the Queensland
border and Newcastle.
It passes by the Pilliga, and the company behind the pipeline is eager
to transport CSG drilled from the Pilliga to Queensland or Newcastle.
It passes through rich cropping lands south of Moree and on the
Liverpool Plains
It crosses the Namoi River five times, and the Hunter River on the
outskirts of Aberdeen, Morpeth and Tomago, cutting through the
wetlands of Ash Island to the North Arm of the Hunter River on
Kooragang Island.
The approval should be allowed to lapse.

To The Department of Planning and Environment,
I wish to lodge my full and deepest objection to the Hunter-Gas
Pipeline project and the extension to the approval deadline.
This pipeline will intersect many rivers and streams. Already our
water is being poisoned by methane and other gasses released by the
process of coal seam gas fracking, we do not need the added risk of
transporting gas hundreds of kilometers through streams, rivers and
under ground aquifers, especially in areas like Muswellbrook, that
have shown seismic activity recently.
The Australian Government is supposed to be leading Australia and its
peoples into a renewable future, this project will destroy the natural
environment, invade peoples land, destroy water, crops and people's
livelihoods and is not in the best interests of the planets
inhabitants. This project will leave a handful of men very wealthy and
the rest of us hungry and thirsty.
For the Government to have approved this project in the first place is
a failure of good governance, to extend its approval, now knowing what
we do about climate change and the battles for survival we will soon
face, is an absolute disgrace.
I call on the Government to do the right thing by all Australians and
reject this proposal. We have so many other renewable sources of
energy in this country we do not need to do this.

The company claims there are no changes to the environmental or amenity
impacts, but that ignores changes that happen over time. New
ecological communities have been listed as endangered, National Parks
have been extended, new towns have emerged and existing towns have
grown, new farming enterprises have been embarked upon, and the
justification for the project has dramatically changed.
The landscape through which this pipeline proposes to run has changed
over the last decade and with it, so has the impact this pipeline will
inflict on people, the environment and local economies. It is not
acceptable for the Department of Planning to extend the deadline for
this consent by another five years
