I have lived in the Hunter Valley for almost 9 years. I have a wife and 3 children. One of my adult children is currently working at MTW, so this mine continuation will have a postive impact in my family. My other children are both students and plan to continue living and eventually working in the area. Members of my family and me support several local community groups and volunteer time to these.
If this mine does not continue I have grave fears for my future in the area. It is likely I will need to look for work in mining elsewhere for a period and possibly commute. I believe if I had to seek employment outside the area it would have a serious effect on my family and me. My family and I spend most our time and money in the area - we have always believed in buying local and do so whenever we can.

It's quite simple, without this extension 1300 people will loose their jobs. That's 1300 families that will be no longer
Contributing to the 6.5 billion dollars mining feeds into the local community. 1300 homes that will be sold or rental properties vacated which will sink the local market, send small business in
Surrounding areas broke and turn thriving communities into ghost towns. The flow on affects will devistate an entire region. On a more personal level, I will have to move my famy out of the local area, my two infant boys will have an uncertain financial and educational future and my wife will have to cancel her plans to return to University and not achieve her dreams if becoming a midwife supporting the local community. Say yes to the extension, it will keep the region alive.

Many of my close colleagues will be unemplyeed as their future in the Hunter valley depends on extension of Mount Thorley Warkworth Mine. Some which have worked at Mount Thorley Warkworth for 30 years. The mine brings ecomomic growth to the region as a whole as vistors to the mine site also visit and support local businesses. The longevity of the mine, is closely linked to the longevity of many businesses and their families in the region.

I'm 25 years old and I'm among those 1300 people who risk loosing our jobs if the mt thorley warkworth extension doesn't get approved.. Myself and my partner have just built a house and are looking at starting a family in the near future, she to works at mt thorley warkworth. We as well as the other 1300 work force need the extension to ensure a healthy future.. Like many others if the extension is to be knocked back again we would be forced to look at leaving the area to seek work, We are both born and bread in the hunter valley and this is where we want our future and families future to be..

I have been employed at MTW as a contractor for the past three years and have just recently been given a permanent position as an operator. Singleton needs MTW to continue into the future as it supports the community in a wide range of ways. There are to many jobs at stake and the flow on affect to our region would be devastating if this mine would cease to exists.

I am writing to support this development. The slowdown of the mining industry in the Hunter Valley has already had a visible impact on Singleton and local businesses, and the closure of Warkworth mine and related redundancies would have a much bigger impact than the naysayers seem to realise.

I support the MTW extension. The Singleton and Hunter Valley community need the project to go ahead to keep mining jobs locally. I am comfortable that any environmental risks can be managed appropriately.
