I appreciate a new hospital being built in our area and thank the DP&E for the opportunity to comment on the planning so far.
My request is that the new hospital and the road work changes proposed WILL ENHANCE our beautiful Forest area, with good design and style. We have lost many of our majestic trees on the site, so anything that takes their place must honour that loss.
I am dismayed to hear that the elegant footbridge across Warringah Road to the Arndale Shops at the cnr of Forest Way is to be demolished and replaced with a new footbridge, to widen that part of Warringah Road. I object to this.
Please do not replace this visually pleasing bridge with the type of footbridge that was built some years ago at "Crown on the Hill" across Warringah Rd to Woodlands St. It is an ugly structure that looks like a railway bridge that should never be seen! It was obviously designed to carry the large advertising posters that assail all who drive by.
Any new structures should be aesthetically pleasing and should not carry visual pollution of advertising.
Please leave our lovely arched bridge as it is, or if it is to be replaced, design a replica of the elegant style.
Thank you.

Hi,
I would like to make a submission regarding the road upgrade of Frenchs Forest Road West for the Northern Beaches Hospital. The planned transformation of the road from two to four lanes must somehow include the planting of vegetation along the roadside to soften the visual impact of the expanse of bitumen and concrete unfolding up the hill towards the hospital from Naree Road. This is an important consideration in maintaining the character of the area and preserving to some degree a pleasant visual environment.
Could you please foward this email to DP&E as I couldn't access the form to submit it online on their website.
Regards,

I am concerned about the following and do not believe the proposal will fully address the issues.
Frenchs Forest Road East. At Peak time (5.30pm) It is almost impossible to turn right from any of the northern side streets (eg. Harmston, Hurdis, Romford roads) onto Frenchs Forest Road East unless a west bound car allows access. A set of traffic lights is being considered an option in Stage 1 at Romford Rd. Whilst this may allow cars to turn left into Frenchs Forest Rd (although unless Romford rd is changed to 2 lanes the cars waiting to turn left Onto Frenchs Forest Rd East will be held up by cars waiting to turn right, . Cars turning right from Romford will still be faced with the same issue as Frenchs Forest Road East is often queued back to Skyline shops because the line of cars waiting to cross Wakehurst Parkway. This also prohibits cars from accessing the left lane to turn left into Wakehust Parkway. Widening the road will not resolve the issue of cars waiting to turn left onto Wakehurst Parkway from Frenchs Forest Rd East. Often these cars cannot move even when the lights are green because the cars travelling south on Wakehurst parkway are already queued up waiting to turn right onto Warringah rd and therefore block these lanes so cars turning left onto Wakehurst parkway to get into the right hand turning lane onto Warringah rd are blocked . The only alternative option for these blocked cars is to turn into the straight ahead lane and put their indicator on hoping that someone will let them in to the right hand turn lanes from Parkway to Warringah Rd. This then means that cars wishing to go straight ahead need to go around these cars. Definitely not a safe option. I have seen some cars use the bus lane travelling west on Frenchs Forest Rd east to turn left into Wakehurst Parkway.
To give an example a trip from Harmston Rd Frenchs Forest to Darley Rd Forestville should take appox. 10 minutes. On 21/11/13 at 5.25pm it took me 20 minutes to reach the intersection of Wakehurst Parkway and Warringah Road (approx. 1km travel distance). The total trip took 30 minutes. This is not a one off occasion. I can reach Mona Vale Hospital in 20 minutes with a lot less hassle. Please not only consider the impact of transport after the hospital is built but the interruption to traffic during roadworks to improve the traffic.
There appears to be an overabundance of traffic lights in the new plans.
Forestway shops are becoming more popular and will increase even further with the new hospital. At present it is very difficult to park at these shops during a weekday and on a weekend you need to be there very early. The set up of the shopping centre parking often means cars need to go right round the shopping centre just to leave and thus holding up other cars trying o find a space and vice versa. Are there any plans to resolve this?
I am very concerned about the traffic flow or lack thereof during the construction phase and road connectivity works.
Please consider these points.
