Objection to the proposed Waterloo Metro Over Station Development

I am a local resident in Alexandria and my submission is an objection
to the proposed development above the Waterloo Metro station on the
grounds that it is a significant over development and inappropriate
for the site.

I am in favour of the Metro station at Waterloo, and some reasonable
(several stories) of commercial retail development associated with the
Metro station but I strongly object to the proposed 23, 25 and 29
story towers on the following grounds:

1. Overdevelopment: The concept of building three residential towers
on the site of 23, 25 and 29 stories is a gross over development of
the site and is completely out of character for the area which adjoins
heritage listed low rise (maximum 9m) residential areas near
Alexandria Park and adjacent areas.
2. Inappropriate development for the area: The proposed development is
completely out of character with the village feel of the area, and
will cause a significant loss of visual amenity. The graphic depicting
the towers viewed from Alexandra Park demonstrates this loss of visual
amenity very clearly.
3. Congestion: The development will result in increased congestion,
traffic and overshadow adjacent areas.
4. No demonstrated need: There is no demonstrated need for the
quantity of residential development that would be built by the
proposed in the 23, 25 and 29 story towers.

I propose the residential towers be scrapped entirely, or the scale
reduced significantly to no more that 5 stories in height.
