how crazy, why kill a perfect river to keep a mine running?

What a disgrace.To destroy a river to supply water for a mine when there are other options is just plain crazy.

the pipeline must not go ahead.History shows that the river battles to sustain its habitat,pumping large amounts of water will kill this river.

I do not believe sufficient information has been gathered about the environmental impact of removing water from the Macquarie, particularly at such vulnerable times as a drought would produce.

I object to such a destructive plan. The Macquarie river is a place of native fish refuge.

The pipeline will destroy what this wonderful river has to offer!

After doing some of my own research into the proposal, I am against building the pipeline. Seems to be a few conflicts of interest here and that it is about dollars, not water supply. I am amazed this has even been proposed during this day and age of environmental concern. I realise I am not a local but but we do have to look after the environment as a whole, not just our own backyard. If perchance this is a backdoor deal to supply a mine with water, they can source it by other means, some mines here have no external water supply for six months during the dry season and they manage.All costs dollars though. Without seeming emotive, this proposal is just plain stupid or there is a hidden agenda somewhere.

AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!

IN THIS DAY AND AGE WHERE OUR INLAND RIVERS ARE STRESSED ENOUGH BY OUR INTERVENTION, SOMEONE COMES UP WITH THIS.

PLEASE GIVE IT MORE THOUGHT AND LOOK FOR ALTERNATIVES.

The Macquarie is a river under considerable stress.

To further stress the remnant fish populations, including threatened and protected species, at periods of low flow.... flies in the face of any environmental principles.

As a regular user of the Macquarie River and someone who grew up on the river in the proposed location of the pipline, I would like to say I am VERY strongly opposed to it. There is no way the river can handle this sort of abuse. There are definatley fish in this area, I have personally caught Murray Cod, Trout Cod, Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Catfish so anyone who suggests otherwise has no idea or vested interests. Please think about the people who depend on this river, not the pockets of cadia.

You've got to be joking!!! Myself and my family regurally go camping, fishing & 4wdriving in that beautyful part of the country and you want to suck the guts out of it when the river needs all the water in times of low flows. It seems to me that Orange council is bowing down to the might and needs of Cadia Mine in regards to water allocation.
