I wish to lodge my objection to AGL's proposed extension of time for the commencement of work on the proposed gas fired power plant project at Dalton (DPP), NSW. AGL have not provided sufficient cause for extension.

The community distrusts them. This has been acknowledged by the Department of Planning who noted AGL's appalling community consultation.

AGL have not supplied adequate time for an appropriate response.

AGL will rely on an Environmental Assessment that is 7 years old and does not include recent discoveries including the population of endangered Southern Pygmy Perch in Oolong Creek less than a few kilometres from the proposed construction.

This is a new proposal and needs a new assessment. AGL received its original approval under legislation repealed in 2011 after a corruption scandal that brought down the then NSW government. By repealing this legislation, the NSW Government acknowledged corrupt and unfair practices, such as undisclosed political donations made during the assessment of the original Dalton proposal and for which AGL have been convicted and fined. Hence it may be argued that the original assessment and approval were made under a defective head of authority which does not provide a legitimate basis for the project.

The rate of development of battery and alternative generating technologies is such that in two years' time a gas-fired generator may well be obsolete and, if built, a stranded asset.

AGL would appear to be pursuing a flawed and obsolescent if not obsolete business model. The whole-of-life cost of this project to the government and citizens of NSW may be an impediment to growth in this state. This proposed development is at odds with the electricity market now and in the future.

Finally the construction of this power plant will close down the business of Vince & Janet Heffernan at "Moorlands" Dalton who supply me and my family lamb. I object to this loss and this destruction of their business.

I am opposed to the Dalton Power Project seeking an extension to the lapse date.
I am a resident of Dalton which will be severely affected by the proposed gas power plant which is to be built by AGL, approximately three kilometers from the township.
These types of operatios emit large quantities of toxic gases which can only have a detrimental effect on the health of locals, as well as livestock and native flora and fauna. They also create earth vibratons which can be felt up to ten kilometers away. AGL's statement that it wishes to take new technology into account only serves to exacerbate my fears.
Besides the afore-mentioned factors, there will also be a detrimental effect on property values as nobody will want to purchase property in such a hostile environment. This is already having an effect as I know of people who have cancelled, or put on hold, plans to build a house. These people made plans following AGL's suspension of the DPP, some with no knowledge of the project while others believed it was not going to be built.
I would also object to the haste with which AGL is trying to push this project through. I neither saw nor heard any publicity whatsoever concerning this proposal and only became aware of it via the local grapevine. AGL has not consulted with the community since the announcement to suspend the project in 2012, and in a democratic society this is not the way it should have been handled.

I strongly object to the agl power plant .
I have lived in Dalton for over 60 years and seen a lot of people come and go. this town now is growing constantly with new homes and properties being sold to many people from the cities who love the peace , quiet and the beautiful country side. if agl goes ahead this will be all destroyed and we will be another failed project like urinquinty. believe me none of this community want that. the noise, pollution, view and our water ways such as the oolong are all worries. especially with the new pygmi perch found in the oolong creek . they lie and have been done for contributions to political parties so why and how can they be trusted.
the lack of communication has been 0 over the past almost 5 years until now.
we live in an earth tremor zone on a fault line which I would think would be another issue.
gas line is 40 years + old and well over its use by date.
there is a lot of heritage to this town and important places people visit.
water is another issue for us as the water we have now is not great and the pollution to our tanks would cause cancer is what we have been told due to the cemicals.
our roads are bad enough and will only get worse with the amount of traffic and delays to the lots of people who travel to work daily.
