I wholeheartedly support the Merino Solar Project. Sustainable energy is the way of future and solar farms are one of Australia's best options in this regard. The site chosen by Merino Solar has been carefully selected and will not impact on town growth in the developing region of Goulburn Mulwaree. While the land on which the farm will be built is currently agricultural, Merino Solar will be using the site for sheep grazing in conjunction with the panels. (Solar grazing has been shown to improve conditions for Merino sheep, protecting them from harsh weather and reducing heat stress).
At present the Goulburn Mulwaree Shire is experiencing significant growth and Merino Solar will provide large scale emplyment as the region develops, as well as providing the region's energy needs, along with those of greater Sydney. Merino Solar will provide long-term benefits to the region while at the same time contributing to achieving Australia's renewable energy targets - a win-win development.
