I object to this proposal in its current form due to the excessive height that will be very imposing to the surrounding environment.
The original design for this site that was submitted to the Central City Planning Committee (D/2022/139) and subsequently approved on 07/12/2023 consisted of a construction of three new buildings of 5, 6 and 10 storeys in height respectively.
The imposing nature of the new submission that is being made via the State Significant Development Application process far exceeds the current Woolloomooloo height restrictions. The proposed 18 Storeys is just too excessive and a comprise from the original approved application of 10 Storeys to 18 should be reach. The additional storeys that have been added will be very imposing to the existing terrace houses that this building will be overshadowing
The proposed construction does not take into consideration the noise impact of external balconies on the majority of the 227 apartments will have to the existing residents of the surrounding area as noise in the Woolloomooloo basin travels and will echo even further with this construction
I am deeply concerned the impact this excessive construction noise and vibration will have on the surrounding neighbourhood particularly on the Terraces within the conservation area.
I am also deeply disappointed that the building application does not include any indication that the building will be self-sustainable. There are no alternative energy source or any measures of this construction which go towards meeting the net zero targets set by the government.
Overall, I do not consider that the increased building envelope has taken into consideration the impact to current infrastructure and resources or the enmity and harmony of the existing residents of the area. The application should be amended to be more appealing to the existing surroundings of the conservation area of Woolloomooloo and to incorporate green energy solutions. Taking into consideration impact to the wellbeing of the current residents of the area.

To whom it may concern,
I am a resident living close to the proposed development at 164–194 William Street, Woolloomooloo, and I would like to formally object to the current DA.
The revised height of 18 storeys and 10 storeys is significantly out of scale with the surrounding neighbourhood and will create major impacts on nearby residents. This increase will cause loss of natural light, overshadowing, reduced privacy, and further congestion in an already dense area.
I strongly request that the height of the new buildings be reduced to match the scale of existing buildings on the site. A development of similar height to the current structure would minimise negative impacts on views, sunlight and the general amenity of the community. It will also open a case for other development in the erected blocking western sun and city views that are already part of the value of the dwellings in the area.
I ask the planning authority to reconsider the proposal and require a more appropriate height that aligns with the character and livability of the area.
Thank you.

I am writing as a resident of Unit 21, 12-20 Rosebank Street
Darlinghurst, NSW 2010, directly opposite the proposed development at 164-194 William Street, Woolloomooloo to formally object to the approval of this project.
I am deeply concerned about the significant and irreversible impact this project will have on the visual and environmental quality of our neighbourhood. Specifically, the proposed 18-storey structure will result in the complete loss of our iconic views, which have long been an integral part of the character and appeal of this area.
The views across of the Sydney city including the harbour bridge are not merely aesthetic; they are part of our shared community identity and local heritage. Blocking these views will greatly diminish both the quality of life for existing residents and the visual balance of the streetscape.
I am also concerned that construction appears to have progressed significantly up to 18 stories prior to public exhibition. This raises serious questions about procedural transparency and whether due process and community consultation have been adequately respected.
I urge the planning authority to:
1. Reassess the project’s compliance with community and environmental impact guidelines.
2. Conduct a transparent review of the approval process to ensure that public exhibition and feedback occur before significant construction advances.
3. Consider reducing the building height or adjusting the design to preserve key sightlines and the established visual identity of the neighbourhood.
I trust that the Council will take these concerns seriously and act in the interests of fairness, heritage preservation, and responsible development.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I would appreciate written confirmation that this objection has been received and recorded for consideration.
