The Catholic Parish of Lindfield-Killara strongly objects to development in the block bounded by Pacific Highway, Balfour St, Wallace Pde and Highfield Road for the following reasons:
1. The area in question contains:
a. a major supermarket
b. a church in which services are held daily, and 6 times on a weekend.
c. Holy Family School in Highfield Road.
d. Highfields School in Wallace Pade.

2. Each of these bodies generates significant pedestrian and motor traffic.
3. The street connecting Balfour St and Highfield Rd (Wallace Pde) is little wider than a lane and already struggles to safely contend with traffic flow.
4. The connecting point between the eastern and western sides of the railway line which feeds into this precinct (the Havilah Rd underpass) is already a bottleneck.

For these reasons our parish is at a loss as to why an increase in residential density, let alone the density being proposed, would even be considered in such a precinct as is bounded by the streets in question.
