O'Connell Memorial Ave of Trees
Oberon
The subject of this assessment is a memorial avenue of trees in the historic village of O’Connell which were planted between 1925-1927to honour those soldiers from the locality who fought in World War I. The main road from Bathurst to Oberon (MR253) runs through the village and the Avenue defines almost a kilometer at the western entrance to the village. The road is known locally as the O’Connell Road. The local community initiated the memorial in the early 1920s.
