Garden Suburb Project
Lake Macquarie
Proposal:
The Rezoning Proposal seeks to amend the planning controls in the Lake Macquarie Local Environmental Plan 2014 to allow the 38-hectare site that was previously assessed as suitable for residential development to transition from a deferred matter zoning to contemporary zonings. The proposed residential and environmental conservation zones will provide a mix of housing types and retain native bushland.
The proposal from Landcom applies to land located at 9A, 69 and 82 Myall Road, Garden Suburb, and aims to facilitate the delivery of 160 homes, including 69 affordable housing units.
Landcom lodged the proposal with the Department as a State-assessed rezoning proposal under the accelerated rezoning pathway for social and affordable housing program.
The exhibited documents include an Explanation of Intended Effect, detailing the intended outcomes of the proposal and supporting technical studies.
The Department is responsible for exhibiting the documents, gathering feedback and undertaking assessment of the proposal.
