To NSW planning and infrastructure I am entering this submission in support of the Angus Place extension project being a worker at Springvale colliery born and raised in the local area and a 4th generation miner at that site my great grandfather and pop having worked in the renown colliery my father and I at Springvale colliery my wages are spent in town through local business supporting the economy and my work helps keep the lights on at home. I hope you grant approval for this extension as I fear without the local coal industry myself and many other coal miners in the Lithgow district will be forced to leave the local area that generations of my family has called home.

I strongly support the Angus Place Extension Project. Centennial is a major employer and contributor in the local area and economy. This is seen both directly at their Mine sites, and indirectly throughout the community, with many businesses relying on mining operations in the area. The Angus Place Extension Project will ensure continuous employment of 300+ people in the Lithgow area. This is critical to the local economy and livelihoods of a significant portion of the community. It's also crucial to secure and maintain a reliable and low cost coal supply to the Mt Piper power station, which supplies the state with power and assists in keeping everyone's power bills in check.

Myself, like numerous others have seen the impact of mine closures and the roll on effect to businesses and the local economy.
Implementation of programs and controls put in place by Centennial coal are to be to adhered too regarding conservation, planning, rehabilitation of mine sites, and maintaining continuity of areas of indigenous significance and swamp locations, with the stepping around of these locations, so not to have an impact on these areas.
Angus Place Colliery has been one of the largest employment facilities within the area for many years, offering full time employment and apprentice training.
I fully support the Angus Place Mine Extension Project, being a very positive indication to the local area for future employment of our kids and their families.

I object on three grounds:
First, the proposal to allow mining activity until 2053 with the aim of producing coal for thermal power generation flies in the face of Australia's attempts to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. If this extension is allowed to proceed it should be for strictly limited period so that it will not interfere with a future national transition to sustainable power production.
Second, the proposal to build supporting facilities such as roads and pumping stations, scarring the land and impairing it visually, will reduce the value of this land if and when it is included in the Gardens of Stone NP or associated SCAs.
Finally, the proposal for large-scale longwall mining threatens to fracture the sandstone strata in this spectacular region, affecting the quantity of water in existing watercourses and swamps and the water quality in currently pristine creek systems, such as Carne Creek, and thus permanently impairing the value of this land as a future National park or SCA and its potential value for future sustainable tourism development.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I object to this project for two main reasons:

- It poses unacceptable risks to the last remaining upland swamps of the Newnes Plateau. These are extraordinary, nationally listed habitats. It's bad enough that around half of them have been destroyed by mining. To destroy what remains would be unambiguously appalling.

- It effectively locks in coal - and the environmental destruction wrought in its extraction and burning - as part of NSW's rapidly changing energy landscape for an unacceptably long period of time. Rapid transition to renewables is what we need, not purblind buttressing of coal-fired power generation.

Yours sincerely, etc.
