We request a contribution per tonne of coal to be put into the trust that will be set up to administer the 3.5 Cents per tonne that Chain Valley Colliery has to do.

I would like to object to this mine increasing any additional areas. .

With the mine continuation of the nearby Lake Coal what studies have been done to protect the local community.
With the increase complaints of coal dust from residents of Mannering Park, who owns the coal dust. Delta, Lake Coal
or this other environmental vandal Mannering colliery.

What is happening with the mine water from this mine.
Is this mine water entering Lake Macquarie via the same creek as Lake Coal uses which is now under investigation
by the EPA , Has any testing been done higher up this natural watercourse to see what contaminates have been
deposited before reaching the discharge point of Lake Coal if this is indeed the watercourse.

The voluntary planning agreement is a joke at 2 cents per tonne, even Lake Coal is offering 3.5 cents and this still
is nothing compared to the damage this mine has done in the past to the local area.
This money needs to go into a community fund controlled by the local community and not Wyong shire council
which has a history of not giving good value for money when money is available from government grants.

What is Mannering Colliery going to do about the infestation of Pine trees that is now out of control in sensitive
area's that has originated from the main entrance drive of a large row of pines. this is now infesting the endangered
Charmhaven apple gum that has now been identified near this mine entry.

I also object to any mining under Mannering Park , Subsidence issues from past mining is now starting to show
with local resident properties in Mannering Park , the community has no confidence in the Mine Subsidence board
especially the Wyong office.
After 20 years residences of Chain Valley Bay are still seeking compensation from the mine subsidence board.
What compensation has the board made to the Colongra wetlands that was illegally mined 20 years ago.
What compensation has the mine subsidence made to correct sunken foreshore at Mannering Park in front
of the local scout hall???

There is a history of illegal mining in this area so what independent studies have been undertaken to investigate
the extent of mining that should never have occurred.

Who is responsible for the creek collapse in Wyee creek ????? Was this also illegal mining???

This mine does not deserve to be allowed a licence until it starts to amend the wrongs of the past.

What long wall mining has taken place under Mannering Park 20 years ago ??? what long wall mining was done
in the Mannering bay area ??? Subsidence issues are now thought to be caused by land strain buy this practice.

What surveying will be undertaken before mining occurs under home in Mannering park , will it be your standard
practice of putting survey pegs on roads where mining will not occur, your good at this practice.

The residents of Mannering Park and further afield have no confidence in the mines to do the right thing,
the mine subsidence board to compensate fairly or the Planning department to listen to the concerns of
the residence who pay their wages.

I ADAMANTLY OPPOSE FURTHER MINING UNDER MANNERING PARK THE PRESENT MINES PRESENT ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS IN THE FORM OF PARTICLE DUST, NOISE AND INCREASED TRAFFIC ON RUTLEYS ROAD

MINING UNDER LAKE MACQUARIE HAS ALREADY CAUSED MAJOR SUBSIDENCE (CHAIN VALLEY BAY) AND EXTENDING THE MINING OPERATION FURTHER UNDER MANNERING PARK CAN NOT BE GUARANTEED NOT TO CAUSE FURTHER MINE SUBSIDENCE .THE MINE SUBSIDENCE BOARD HAS NOT YET RESOLVED THE PROBLEMS CAUSED AT CHAIN VALLEY BAY (20 YEARS AGO) AND AS A HOUSEHOLDER I DO NOT WANT TO BE PLACED IN A POSITION WHERE I HAVE TO DISPUTE FURTHER MINE SUBSIDENCE

I do not approve of the EA. There seems to be a very lack of trust in the Mine subsidance Board and the State Govt. to do their job properly in controlling this authority and protecting communities. I therefore believe that there should not be any mining under houses permitted. All houses in the projected mining areas must have survey pegs to prove beyond reasonable doubt that mine subsidance has caused the movement. The community be paid for all coal to be extracted from these mines and in fact all mines operating in the area say $2.00 per tonne

As a property owner in Mannering Park, I oppose the proposed extension of mining for Mannering Colliery.
I consider that:
1. Mining under houses should be forbidden.
2. Survey points should be established where mining is to occur and these survey points given to Council so that if there is dispute over mine subsidence damage the mine should pay Council to carry out independent surveys. The Mine Subsidence Board's reputation for review of damage to houses is understood to be very questionable.
3. Funding for a community infrastructure fund should be a condition of any consent agreement to compensate in some way those communities that are directly affected by the operations of the mining. This should be at an adequate level, about $1/tonne mined.

The Mannering Park Community Precinct, representing the residents of Mannering Park, objects to the E.A. for the following reasons.
1. Mining under houses. The mine plan as exhibited shows that there is mining planned to be undertaken under houses along the western portion of the Mannering Park peninsular. Although the proposal is for first workings only, it does not detail the past workings in other seams in the area that may impact on the structural integrity of the pillars formed in this proposal.

2. The coal mining industry, the Mine Subsidence Board, and successive governments have failed to protect and compensate the community and the environment in this region, when subsidence issues have been raised.
The communities under which mining is currently taking place have no confidence that when damage occurs to their property they will receive a fair hearing from the MSB. The fact that when an adverse finding by the MSB is made against the residents, they have no recourse to an appeal other than to take action in the court system. The resident then has the impossible task of proving that damage to their property was caused by mine subsidence.
To allow some transparency in the MSB's findings the community is saying that no mining, regardless of type, should occur until adequate surveys are conducted in and around the area to be mined. These survey results should be issued to the local councils before mining commences. If a residentÃ,Â's property is damaged and the MSB find against the resident then the mine should pay the council costs for them to carry out an independent survey of the area using the survey marks provided by the mine.

3. I understand that the MSB is only responsible for damage to private property and has no responsibility for the damage caused to public infrastructure. If this is the case then the mine should be responsible for all costs associated with damage to public infrastructure. The provision of adequate survey results to council will allow them to monitor movements and make claims for damage that occurs to the public infrastructure.

4. Mannering Colliery currently contributes two cents per tonne ROM in a VPA for use by Wyong and Lake Macquarie Councils. These funds are used to carry out environmental works in the southern end of Lake Macquarie.
In addition to this VPA we request the DoP impose a levy of $0.20/tonne ROM to be paid into the trust fund being established by Chain Valley Colliery, for the provision of vital infrastructure that is missing in the areas affected by the mining operations.

As a resident of Mannering Park I object to the E.A. for the following reasons.
1. The communities of our area have been let down by the coal mining industry, the Mine Subsidence Board and successive governments, of both persuasions, by failing to protect and compensate residents and public authorities when damage has resulted from subsidence associated with underground mining.
Past and current failures by the Mine Subsidence Board to adequately compensate for subsidence damage has resulted in the communities loss of confidence in all those associated with underground coal mining. The only course of action when a residents damages claim is dismissed by the MSB is to take the matter to court where they have the impossible task of proving that damage to their property was caused by mine subsidence.
To allow some transparency in the MSB's findings I say no mining, regardless of type, should occur until adequate surveys are conducted in and around the area to be mined. These survey results should be issued to the local councils before mining commences. If a resident's property is damaged and the MSB find against the resident then the mine should pay the council costs for them to carry out an independent survey of the area using the survey marks provided by the mine.
2. As the MSB is only responsible for damage to private property and has no responsibility for the damage caused to public infrastructure, the mine should be held accountable for any damage subsidence causes to public infrastructure. The provision of adequate survey results to council will allow council to monitor movements and make claims for damage that occurs to the public infrastructure.
3. The mine plan as exhibited shows that there is mining planned to be undertaken under houses along the western portion of the Mannering Park peninsular. Although the proposal is for first workings only it does not detail the past workings in other seams in the area that may impact on the structural integrity of the pillars formed in this proposal. For this reason no mining should be allowed under houses.
4. In addition to the VPA which Mannering Colliery currently has, where $0.02/tonne ROM is given to Wyong and Lake Macquarie councils for environmental works in our area, we request the DoP impose an additional levy of $0.20/tonne ROM to be paid into the trust fund being established by Chain Valley Colliery, for the provision of vital infrastructure that is missing in the areas affected by the mining operations.

I strongly object to the mining proposed for Mannering Park residential area. My house has shown the effects of the existing mines in our area and I am concerned if further mining is carried out we will suffer greatly. I request that this submission be lodged as I STRONGLY OBJECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I w ill persue any mining company that is responsible for damage to my property for full compensation if any further damage is noted. So if the goes ahead and if you happen to be the mine currently operating below my house you will cop the full brunt of my battle.

I formally object to any further mining under Mannering Park residential area.
My house was built pre mining subsidence building code. We are located in the 100mt exclusion zone of any mining, this was a guarrantee from Mine Subsidence Board in the 1980's.
Mannering Colliery has already started mining in this area as we have seen plans and there are houses already showing damage which is unacceptable. These houses have been inspected by mines subsidence specialists and it has been documented that this is definitely mines subsidence related.
So this must stop, I OBJECT, I OPPOSE any further mining in this area.
Why don't you just mine under the lake?
