Mod 11 - Extension Modification

I HAVE NO OBJECTIONS TO THIS EA, THE BENFITS TO THE AREA AND SURROUNDING SHIRES IS EMENSE, TO NOT GO A HEAD WITH THIS PROPOSAL WOULD IMPACT SERVERLY ON THE COMMUNITY AND SURROUNDING DISTRICTS FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILLITY IN THE FUTURE.

I completely support the application made for the Cowal gold mine extension. The mine is a real asset for the surrounding towns of West Wyalong, Condobolin and Forbes.

The modification development should be approved. Barrick has shown during there operation of the Cowal Gold Mine to be able to meet and excel the stringest environmental guidelines for the area.

I am wanting to support the Cowal Gold Mine extension modification. In these times of economical uncertainty, I feel it is imperative to restore some confidence in the mining sector. We read of hundreds losing their jobs and I would like to think there will be a continuation of my colleagues and my employment here at Cowal, well into the future.
Having moved here 6 years ago, my wife and I have settled in and feel it's a wonderful place to bring up our four children. We purchased a vacant lot & had a house built 3 years ago and are deeply concerned that if the mine life was constricted, our investment, our home, would be severly devalued or worthless.
I earnestly hope that the application gets the approval. In the six years of my employment I have witnessed the great lengths my company goes to, to mine responsibly with all thought and care to our surrounding environment. This is something not only talked about in the higher levels of management but is a culture throughout every level of the company.
We appreciate your consideration and hope for this journey to continue.

Well run mine that strives for and achieves high environmental and community relation standards, also it provides local jobs and services to a district, that would otherwise be lost due to lack of work.

I think the expansion will be beneficial in keeping this little town alive. There will be many employment opportunities for the people of the town and surrounding areas.

As a local in area i have seen the West Wyalong and surrounding areas grow due to local gold mine with future extension it will only help smaller towns keep there population up without losing them to the bigger cities

I 100% support the application

Barrick Cowal provides job opportunities for the surrounding communities along with funding for Education, health system and community groups. Extending the life of the mine would be of benifit to the community and local areas. As and employee at the mine in the environment department I also have a personal opinion that Cowal have high environmental standards and we continue to strive to do better, with rehab and environmental protection so the extension will not have bad affect on this we will only continue to improve the areas whilst in production phases and then there after into closure.

I completely support the proposed extension.

I support the proposed expansion of the Cowal open pit, as it will provide continued financial support to already struggling local communities, and not only the immediate localities of \west Wyalong, Forbes, Condobalin, Ungarie etc, but other towns throughout the state and also interstate (I work with two employees from Victoria on my team).

The Lions Club of Forbes and District is a volunteer community service club supporting the Forbes and surrounding communiites. The Club has received two grants from Barrick Cowal in the last two years, one to refurbish the Lions Park barbecue area which has regular and visitor patronage and the other is to run this year's District Lions Convention.

Both activities would not have been possible without the financial support from Barrick Cowal Community Fund.

Given the positive relationship the Lions Club has with the Community Team at Barrick Cowal we would envisage receiving more financial support to assist our communities. Based on this assumption we would be please if the mine was in operation until 2024.

As a resident of West Wyalong, I support the application for extension of the Cowal Gold Mine.

I believe that Barrick operates responsibly in terms of environmental stewardship as well as providing significant employment opportunities and input and support for the local communities.

Thier ongoing mining activities and continued presence will benefit the area and especially West Wyalong and surrounding towns and local businesses.

I strongly support the approval of this project

I would like to voice my approval of the expansion detailed in Project. Barrick Cowal Gold Mine is a fundamental part of our community. The support they give us is above and beyond that of any other within the region.

Barrick mine in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. The West Wyalong community and surrounds would be a shadow of what it is today without Barrick. I fully support any motion that would ensure their prolonged stay as part of our community.

I would like to supply a submission to support Barrick Australia for their extension of the Cowal Gold Mine project.
For the past 5 years Country Hope has been a beneficiary of financial assistance from the Staff and Management of Barick Gold at West Wyalong.
Country Hope is as regional "Not for Profit" Charity, which provides financial and welfare assistance to local families who have a child diagnosed with Cancer or similar life threatening illness.We are currently assisting over 150 families in Riverina and Murray Regions of NSW.
In the past 5 years Barick Australia management and Staff have donated in excess of $175,000 to Country hope through income generated from sales through vending machines at the West Wyalong site.
These donations are a major portion of our Charities income source, and this funding is used to support local families for travel,accommodation and living expenses, while their child undergoes intense medical treatment. These treatments can last 3 to 4 years, so the need for contributions of the value given by Barick is essential to Country Hope.
We wish to express our support Barick Australia in their extension of their operation,while at the same time expressing our sincere gratitude for their generosity over the past years.

I support this application for family reasons. If this mine closes, it is very likely, my family and I would be forced to leave West Wyalong. I am the principle income earner for my family, and there are limited opportunities for a qualified Mechanical Engineer within this part of NSW.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

If the proposed expansion of the Cowal Gold Mine is going to further the Exclusion Zone out into the lake, I find it unacceptable. As the Exclusion Zone that is already in place has restricted the area that Commercial Fishers can fish. If the expansion goes ahead and the Exclusion Zone is expanded, Commercial Fishers should be compensated as these restrictions are being placed upon us. It reduces our capacity to earn a living which to my understanding is against the Department of Fair Trading Laws.

This is the only mine site i have worked at and have been here now two years and have enjoyed every day.
Before working here i worked in logging and transport witch i also enjoyed , but here is a lot bigger gear and i have realy liked learning and working on this type of equipment.
This site is very well run and takes all aspects into consideration saftey is allways first with enviromental issues these are run and implemented better than i have seen in my working life of over 20 years.
