Forests NSW recognises the diligent efforts made by Centennial Coal to engage our organisation in the development of this project. The decision to trench power lines underground is commendable and very useful to us. Similarly efforts have been made to use previously disturbed or roadside work areas which is also very useful. A few points to emphasis are:
- The proponent is reminded of its statutory requirement to enter into an access arrangement with Forests NSW before entering upon State Forests' land. For surface lands which are the subject of a Mining Lease the proponent must enter into a compensation agreement which will reasonably compensate Forests NSW for any disturbance to Forestry activities.
.
- The area in which this proposal is situated receives heavy visitation for recreation and as such access to the Forest should be afforded to the public in a disciplined and limited fashion to restrict the risk of misadventure, vandalism, arson and access to significant natural & heritage based features in the landscape.
- Any new indigenous or non indigenous heritage, flora, fauna or EEC sites identified during the EIA process on State Forest must be communicated to Forests NSW and other relevant authorities for recording.
- Forests NSW reminds the proponent of the conditions of use for any area under occupation lease. Any proposed conflict between occupation conditions and the development must be outlined.
