On analysis of the new offset areas it is apparent the endangered Narrow-leaved Ironbark-Spotted Gum-Grey Box Open Forest will not be adequately protected under the proposal.

In addition information available shows the Integra Mine Complex has ceased operation.

I object to the Integra Mine Complex Modification 4 because:
* The new offset areas will not protect the endangered Narrow-leaved Ironbark-Spotted Gum-Grey Box Open Forest
* The Integra Mine Complex has ceased operation and gone into care and maintenance

I object to the Integra Mine Complex Modification 4 for the following reasons:
The Narrow Leaved Ironbark-Spotted Gum-Grey Box Open Forest will not be protected.
The Integra Mine has ceased operation and gone into Care and Maintenance.

As a regular visitor to NSW (for family reasons) I was most concerned to hear of this proposal and wish to lodge an objection.

I am most concerned at the way large areas of beautiful NSW are being irretrievably spoilt by mining operations

For reasons of climate change I would hope that the government of NSW would see the danger of the harm caused to the environment by mining operations and the subsequent carbon emissions

The Australia Institute wishes to object to the proposed modification of the Integra mine biodiversity offsets for several reasons:
* The new offset areas will not protect the endangered Narrow-leaved Ironbark-Spotted Gum-Grey Box Open Forest
* Despite placing this endangered ecological community at risk, there is no evidence of economic benefit to the wider NSW community.

The EIS discusses "flow-on benefits and coal resources with an estimated value of "$6.2 billion" without any working or justification for these claims.

The Australia Institute has considerable experience examining the economic claims of project proponents in this area. Even when working and calculations are provided they are typically overstated, prominent recent examples being the Warkworth project, Stratford extension and Drayton South project. Modifications that place endangered ecological communities at greater risk should be rejected without independent economic assessment of the net benefits to the NSW community.

I object to the Integra Mine Complex Modification 4 because:

3. I am also opposed to any expansion of coal mining because of climate change and the decades of obfuscation on this issue by the mining industry and its lobbyists.

Biodiversity in the Hunter has been very poorly managed and this modification is just another example.
