I support project this needs to be approved as there will be 1500 plus people directly affected by this not being approved. Not to mention the flow on effects to the towns and small businesses in the local area

Glencore and Yancoal haven't done any planning for the closure of HVO North, despite the June 2025 deadline being part of its consent for a decade. The Department should advise them to modify this application to make it an extension for closure planning.

It's clear this project can't go ahead - the Net Zero Commission’s recent finding that “Any emissions increases associated with extended or expanded coal projects would require other sectors to make greater emissions reductions if the state is to meet its emissions reduction targets” and that the emissions that would result from this Modification are significant, are higher than the facilities currently emit and are counter to NSW’s legislated emissions trajectory.

The only acceptable modification to any HVO project is for closure planning and implementation.

I support this project. Keeping our mining industry going is the only thing that will keep the Hunter Valley going and support our workers.
Without this projects approval, thousands of people will be left stranded in a time when jobs are so important for thriving families.
This needs to go ahead to provide security for our children and communities.

Hunter Valley Operations has consistently shown its dedication to ensuring best practice environmental methods are followed. It is a major employer in the Hunter valley supporting not only its workforce but local businesses. The loss of this mine would have a major detrimental effect on the local economy that the Hunter valley is not ready for.
I fully support this application for the above reasons.

I believe this project is with great importance to the local community and its people as a whole. It will help maintain existing jobs as well create further employment which in turn will keep the local economy turning. Not only that it will keep a roof over my wife and 3 daughters heads.

The LOCAL community need jobs and industry like this. While ever there is a global demand for coal it should be responsibly mined and no better place then here in the Hunter Valley to mine that coal. If this project doesn’t go through it is a very uncertain time for the LOCAL community with hundreds of direct jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs on the line.

I would like to see the extension be approved, I am an employee of HVO and i would like to continue working for them for a long time yet. This extension will allow us to put in a submission for the continuation of our great mine for a longer period of time to be assessed.

HVO is beneficial to the local and wider community and should be approved for the benefit of many, including those without ties to the industry by means of taxes and royalties.

I support the continuation of the HVO Project.
HVO employs approx. 1500 people directly & many more indirectly. Currently, I can not see how the renewables industry could support this volume of people looking for work within the short time period that would be required if the date of 30th June 2025 was to be implemented.
Outside of the financial impact, HVO supplies some of the worlds cleanest coal.

This project is too important to the employees, the regional economies of Singleton, Muswellbrook, Maitland and Cessnock and to the economy of NSW not to support this project.
