Mod 8 - Material Reuse

As adjoining property owners we object to the permanent placement of this stockpile. During the whole construction process we have been advised this was only to be temporary. The current height of the stockpile now has the potential to effect our view, with current re-zoning under review for this area it is more than likely that a building application will be granted with sub-division approval. The purchase price and value of our property is largely dependent on an uninterrupted view.
It appears that the total acquisition of this land was for the purpose of a permanent stockpile for waste materials from the onset rather than a temporary as indicated throughout the construction of the Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade.
We also have concerns that this stockpile may contain residue of Deildrin or similar due to the nature of its origin from ex banana land and watercourses in the near vicinity.

The EPA appreciates the opportunity to review and provide comment on the Sapphire to Woolgoolga Modification 8 document.

The EPA has reviewed the document, notes comments previously made and has no further comments at this time.

Council has no objection to the proposed modification to the Ministers Condition of Approval for permanent stockpile of material. There has been no concerned raised with Council by the public in relation to the proposed modification during the exhibition period and Council in unaware of any issues that the public may have in relation to the existing condition of these sites. Please provide Council with a copy of the plans once approved so that the fill on these site can be suitably recorded.
