My Name is Julie Elizabeth Davis . I reside at 54 Scholey Street Mayfield. Earlier today I submitted and objection to the modification on behalf of my mum Shirley Davis of 407 Cabbage Tree Road Williamtown. Unfortunatley due to your system constraints I am unable to change the address on the system. So I am advising that this objection is on behalf of what I have witnessed and seen since the opening of the Sand Quarry and the impact that futher development , increasing haulage allowances in and out and the increased traffic flow

My parents have lived in their home for over 25 years. During this time they have developed their property quite considerably and carried out many improvements for this to be their "retirement " home.

My parents were concerned with the opening of the Sand Quarry that the increased traffic flow from large haulage trucks would create a very real danger on the road leading up to and outside their property.

Myself my brother and sister often visit them on their along with their grandchildren ( and now great grandchildren). The increase in traffic and trucks on the road to their property is very very real. Its often the case where we will overshoot their property to pull up safely either before or after to allow trucks to pass so that we can safely slow down to enter their driveway. Whilst I have recently found out that these trucks can be reported and a log is meant to be kept. I personally am not looking for a sign on a truck telling me where it is from or going or trying to get details whilst driving to make the report and provide the necessary details. Im more focused on my saftey and staying out of the way. Im very interested in what the actual number of trucks are and the increase to the trucks has been since the opening of the quarry.

Secondly my parents suffer from numerous health issues. Unfortunalty age has meant that these issues only increase. As they do with all of us. My dad retired last year from his business due to increasing health issues. Over the period of the mine I have seen my parents hospitalised , treated for various ailments and both advised by their doctors that they need to rest. This is almost impossible with trucks coming and going outside the literal entrance to their home. Any increase to the number or size of these trucks is going to compound these issues even further. I believe that it is everybodys right to be able to follow their Doctors advice to increase their quality of life and potentially expand their lifeline. The quarry doesnt appear to have taken any of this into account since the initial proposal to open was granted.

My mum regularly attends the meetings as the only non-paid resident who is a regular committee member and often I know finds that she is a little lost with some of the jargon and the terms used at the meeting but regardless of health makes every attempt to go as her concerns regarding traffic, noise and pollution have only increased not decreased since the opening of the Quarry.

I would be curious to know wether the Quarry has reached out to Mum and Dad to find out how this is now affecting them. The members at the meeting would definitely be aware of Mums decrease in health and the stress that these issues and the devaluation of their once dream property has caused them over the period since opening.

These people are my parents. I am also aware that affected landowners have been contacted with regards to this Modification. However, it appears that once again the Quarry is only calling affected landowners those that board the potential zone for expansion. Not those that are directly affected by increased haulage amounts in and out or increased traffic.

Unfortunately I wasn't aware of the modifications or my ability to write a submission until early this week. Otherwise I would have taken the time to read all the documents since conception and through every modification and had many more questions. My parents however tend to be private people and are very family orientated so dont like to burden us with their issues.

Consultation with my parents (both of them ) preferably written so that they can consult with their solicitors and advisors should have been the very first step in implementing any changes should have been carried out as since the beginning at each change they are probably the most affected by these modifications and time has certainly increased these impacts on their health, lifestyle and property valuation.
Its simply and episode of the Castle made into a long drawn out tv series. Unfortunatley the Aussie battler whos worked hard all the life and didnt take the intial payments offered due to real concerns is now being ignored and walked over by the large Corporation.

My apologies for the grammar and spelling but writing this very quickly to meet the deadline.

Also just wondering why the letter that was given to residents stating the modifications said that submissions had to be in by Tuesday the 22nd July . Yet the website clearly showed once I accessed the portal that the 24th of July was the end date. I did try to contact Jarrod Blaine on the number on the newsletter today did leave messages for him to contact me to see the exact time of the closing of submissions so that I could write a more clear and concise statement of my objections. However unfortunately I did not receive a reply so have had to do this submission rapidly within a very tight time constraint and without the research I would normally have undertaken. And also to be advised of the best way to put in the submission to ensure it is acknowledged seperately to the one lodged on behalf of Shirley Davis earlier today. But couldnot get advice on this either so have completed it to the best of my ability using the tools avaialable.

I am an owner occupier of the residence directly affected by the changes / modifications to the Sand Quarry.

I provided a submission at the onset of the project to voice my concerns over the impact of noise / traffic / safety and Silica dust impacts at the commencement of the quarry. These concerns have not changed and have in fact increased. Please see my initial Submission.

I am also a member of the CCC for the project and endeavour to attend every meeting when my health permits as I feel it is important for me and my family to be aware of the changes made at the quarry which directly impact my home and my family.

The extension of the quarry and the allowance for import of sand to be washed etc there will increase the traffic to the quarry significantly. At the commencement of the project the documents advise that the increase to traffic on the road due to the quarry was an estimated 29percent. I believe that the actual increase is quite substantially larger than this. I would like to know if there has been a study done since the commencement of the quarry showing the actual number of vehicles that the opening of the quarry has caused...... and also what the traffic impact of this modifications will mean.

I have previously stated that since the opening of the quarry just entering my home property has become quite dangerous for myself, my children and my grandchildren who often are forced to drive to pull over on the side of the road at a safe spot further down the road to wait until there are no trucks behind them so that they can proceed and slow down safely to enter our premises.

This further impacts us as the noise especially from the trucks entering and leaving and the pollution from these trucks also impacts us. As the management is aware myself and my husband have not been well and unfortunately age will only increase these ailments. However we believe that as a now retired couple we have the right to enjoy our property. This means that we would like to be able to sleep during the day when necessary without the sound of brakes s consistently being used or the sound of trucks directly outside our bedroom Over the years this has just added to our stress and health levels. Topped with the concern of the safety of our grandchildren who some of which have just got their licences and our concern for them driving on this road has taken quite a toll on our mental health. The expansion is only going to compound and increase these affects on us.

I would also like to request why the Critical incident report on the website has not been updated since 28/02/24. It seems highly unlikely given the increase to traffic that there has been no reports since this date. As an attendee of the meetings I am aware that complaints regarding trucks/noise/speed have been received yet these dont appear to have been recorded.

Further to this I note that your modification request states that
Stakeholder engagement has been undertaken with seven of the closest neighbouring landowners to inform them of the project design and development and to identify perceived issues and impacts. Table 3-1 provides details of the neighbouring residents consulted to date. Given that these residents are situated in relatively close proximity to the proposed extension footprint and may be subject to potential adverse impacts such as noise, agreements have been made with these landowners for potential compensation. These landowners supported the proposed modification with no issues identified. Table 3-1: Consultation details – neighbouring residents Map Reference (Sensitive Receptor No – Figure 3-3) Address Consultation Date 14 14 Barrie Close, Williamtown 16 28th March 2024 19 Barrie Close, Williamtown 22 28th March 2024 478 Cabbage Tree Road, Williamtown 24 28th March 2024 464 Cabbage Tree Road, Williamtown 25 28th March 2024 458 Cabbage Tree Road, Williamtown 26 10th April 2024 452 Cabbage Tree Road, Williamtown 27 28th March 2024 444 Cabbage Tree Road, Williamtown Aboriginal Stakeholder Consultation 28th March 2024

Considering that my home and family along with my neighbour are the two properties most affected by changes to the quarry with regards to road saftery, noise impact from increased traffic flow and sandmine operations along with pollution from both the quarry and the increased traffic I would fully expect for us to be included on this list and consulted with and discussed with regards to the changes and impacts that modifications will have on us directly but this has not been the case .

Looking forward to hearing your reply and to any discussion that the Sand Quarry intitates with regard to this.

The water that's 'not running off' our 20acre property like it had done for the past 40yrs is having a devastating effect on our lives and the lives.
Since the last weather event in may we r living in swamp conditions being that the drainage of water is not happening like it should or would have in the past. It's utterly disgusting that after 40yrs of rate paying a sandmine can come along and devaste our lives like this. The natural drainage system is that it always did until 4yrs ago drain east headed to Dawson's drain and out to the ocean. Now it seems to flow west and not drain away at all.
The grand kids can't play out side being that it is mud and swamp conditions. It never was like that. 40yrs we have lived on this sand bed that use to drain the rainfall away. It's now filling up, it has nowhere to go now the natural drainage direction has been effected.
It's creating a large dam . Water drains through sand quickly. It use to. Since the sandmine arrived it doesn't. How it this legal? It's effecting natural water flow.
We r stringently again an expansion as our live have been so hinded from what already exists. Living in pfas is disgusting and as 40yr occupants we r well aware that our flooded property is due to the sandmine existing already. We cannot drive on our property still since the may weather event of which we have seen many of them events come and go over 40yrs and water is gone within a week. Not anymore we r getting bogged everyday, grandkids can't rode their horses or their quads, cars can't be driven on it etc We worry about our and our kids health living in what has become a pfas swamp.
Hard working people that pay their rates do not deserve to be flooded by a big company that comes along and changes natural water flow/ drainage it's dishearting, it distusting and criminal the effect on us and our properties that people worked so hard to get and maintain.

I am a resident on Cabbage Tree Road due West of the mine site. I was opposed to this site at the beginning and remain vehemently opposed to any and all extensions. Everyone knows that it was borne out of corruption and all the promises of rehabilitation of the site are all complete lies. I made a submission previously to try and stop this monstrosity but always seems to fall on deaf ears and probably will again.
I have a number of concerns including increased traffic on Cabbage Tree Road from all the trucks, dust and the increased risk from air borne sand related illnesses, the destruction of natural flora and fauna and the risk to the koala habitat and most importantly the interference with natural water flow from the mine site causing horrific flooding of residents to the west of the site. It's not hard to see the damage this is causing if you bother to drive down Cabbage Tree Road and Masonite Roads. Even now properties are still trying to recover following the last lot of heavy rain. These are our homes and often livelihoods that these companies are playing with and it’s just not bloody fair. Why should we have to suffer from their greed?

I implore you to oppose this extension and I just hope someone is eventually held to account for ruining our properties. If it wasn’t PFAS now it’s this. When will anyone listen to the ones that this affects?

Pfas chemical issues, Silica dust issues for all local residents, property devaluation great thanks.

Surely someone could come up with a recyclable product to mix with concrete instead of taking from the land until there is nothing left.

There has already been significant environmental deterioration and excessive dust since opening. Further growth in production would only cause more stress to the environment and residents in the area.

Hi, having resided here in Barrie Close as a joint homeowner for 15 years we have never had to deal with flooding ….UNTIL..the Sand Mine came along.
Ourselves and our neighbours have now had nothing but flooding due to change of the water course.
On our property we have a drain approximately 3metres wide x 2 metres deep running the full length of the property and turning off to go along/behind a neighbour’s property. It definitely floods out every time with the water coming from other neighbour’s properties , which by , floods them out….over whelms the drain/channel, builds up…ends up flooding us…then other neighbours next door and down the street. Never used to happen before….now its happened 6 times

Since the construction of the current sand mining operation, after any significant rain, our property has water pooling in multiple areas that we have never before experienced. We have resided at this address since August 2000. The water table here is now higher than it was prior to the mine opening and I believe that it is due to a major redirection of water flow with the operators of the mine being responsible.
The water doesn't seem to be able to drain away at a steady rate and this had never been the case prior to the operation of the mine.
It is my belief that with the current operators applying to further extend the mines operation west, this will only exacerbate the flooding/water flow issues that we are experiencing.

To whom it may concern,

I am wishing to advise of my EXTREME OBJECTION to the extension of the Sandmine.

We purchased the property two years ago thinking it was our forever home and was excited to be living on a acreage with the land to enjoy. I have invested my life savings into this property.
Since purchasing the property, we have had nothing but issues with the water.
We did our due diligence when purchasing the property and nowhere does it mention of it being in a flood zone nor mention of the Sand Mine expanding closer to our property.
We have extensively renovated the property and spent well in the excess of $300000.00 to make it a home to be forever lived in and enjoyed.
We ourselves have spent time and money trying to protect our property from the water but to no avail. We have spoken with neighbours whom have lived in the area for decades and they have advised that these water issues only became a problem since the Mine began operating.
We now have been doing our research with the help of Google earth we have found out that the Mine has caused a major disruption to the land and now unfortunately it has made a path directly to our property which will mean that we will keep flooding especially when the Mine itself is illegally pumping water into the Water Board Land. (Proof can be provided)
We have approached the Port Stephens Council and The Hunter Water Board to no avail.
They are both ignoring our pleas for help in rectifying this problem so that we may live without fear of flooding and this will now be made significantly worse if the Mine is allowed to expand closer to our property.
We are the only property in the street that gets a significant amount of water with over 95% of our yard being under water after heavy rain. In the last bad storm in May 2025 our house succumbed to the water and was flooded which resulted in us losing precious contents and the house and shed extensively damaged and needing repairing and a very hefty bill. Eight weeks later and our yard is still receiving water from the adjoining land and our land is still unusable.
My property has been classed as "Flood Liable Land" by the Port Stephens Council so I am unsure why our property was allowed to be built where it was in the first instance back in 1982 and again the shed/garage in 1992.

Our mental health is suffering immensely, and I live in fear for my children and grandchildren on what affect this will have on their health, but also my health as a COPD sufferer and as a person medically diagnosed with a permanent disability of severe depression, anxiety and stress.

My concerns with the Mine extension is :
** Continuing water issues , causing more major flooding to my property.
** Noise pollution caused by machinery and trucks used at the Mine.
** Pollution - Silica Dust, Off Site Dust Spread, Poor Air Quality , Airborne Contaminants, Water Contamination on my property from the overflow off the Mine. Dust settling on my roof and then after rainfall running onto my land contaminating the soil causing irreversible Soil Pollution.
** Health Issues including ongoing lung problems (RCS) Scarring and stiffening of lungs, kidney problems and skin issues.

Thanks
Sheryl Dibb

I'm objecting to the project as it has already flooded my property and further modification will only continue to make matters worst on my property. As it stand, water has already started to flood my property from my front yard to my veranda.
We have lived here for over 18 years, & first viewed this property on the weekend of the Pasha Bulker, which was a massive rain event. No water was viewed on the property at that time. We have had small amounts of water laying on the ground over those years, but nothing like it has been since the sandmine was established. Our back paddock is still sodden. Our grounds are so saturated that I can no longer use my ride-on mower.
I am a Licensed Water Driller and I understand the way water runs!
The natural water drains have been altered by the existing sandmine, which is why the water has become such an issue for us & our neighbors.
If the mine is allowed to expand towards Barrie Close, we will also suffer from the dust, noise & silica dust when winds are blowing in our direction.
Please do not allow this expansion to move ahead!

I do not wish the sand mine to be extended. It already causes excessive truck traffic on Cabbage Tree Road with the associated damage and noise. There are already issues with the water coming from the mine that impacts Barrie Close, especially #13 which has been raised but still not resolved. The issue of the water has been raised a number of times and still not addressed. The quantity of water coming through that property is unprecedented and unacceptable. The extension will impact with further noise, dust and water to the residents of Barrie close, especially those at the end closesest to the extension.

Hi,
I am submitting the following comments in objection to the mines extension. I believe extending the mine closer to my property will have severe impacts on noise/dust and furthering the water issues. We experienced major flooding in May with flood waters that inundated our home and shed causing significant damage to our property. Going through google earth images and rainfall totals when there has been large rainfall amounts prior to the sand mine being in operation our property has never flooded. Since its been in operation our property has had major flooding 2 times in 3 years.Neighbours that have also lived in the street for decades have said their property's and others never flooded before the sand mine started operating. Bringing the mine closer to barrie close is only going amplify this issue. Better drainage on Hunter waters catchment area and the drainage system from barrie close out to Fullerton Cove needs to be upgraded. I have photo and video evidence that the current drainage system is a combination of to small, blocked, and so overgrown in some parts it's nearly nonexistent. I also have photo and video evidence of Newcastle sand pumping water into the catchment area, which is overflowing through my property. I reported this to the EPA and Port Stephens council and nothing was done. I will attach some photos of the flooding at my property and a photo of the sand mine pumping water. I can send more evidence if need be as i have gathered alot. We are still gathering evidence for my solicitor to pursue with legal action as we seem to be getting nowhere with council or hunter water. The large volume of water that is still overflowing through my property possesses many health and safety risks especially as i have young children. I hope you reach out to other residents in barrie close as some are feeling the same frustration as me.
Thanks
