To The Planner,
This Bess installations are noise pollution.
They have a huge click banging sound.
If I have to live next to one. I will be seeking legal advice on this being imposed on the community.
I do not consent to being exposed to EMR , noise pollution or infrasound.
Kind regards

Dear Planning Committee,
As an artist who draws inspiration from the stunning natural beauty of nature, I am horrified by the prospect a BESS marring our landscape. The visual impact of these structures would be devastating, not only to the aesthetic value of our community but also to the local tourism industry, which relies heavily on visitors seeking unspoiled scenery, piece and quite.
The sight of these large scale industrial BESS’s would destroy the serene and picturesque environment that defines Tamworth, where I have visited many times. Please consider the long-term visual and economic consequences of this project and reject the development plan.
Best regards,
Tegan Hare

Dear Sir/Madam,
As a person of the younger generation I am concerned with the clean up that will be left after this Bess is no longer needed.
I live in a rural area that is already fire prone. I worry that this BESS would significantly increase the fire threat to communities.
How is a BESS fire extinguished?
Regards
Meika Gordon

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to oppose the proposed BESS and the accompanying wind turbine development and solar due to its potential impact on property values. Numerous studies have shown that the presence of large-scale RE installations can lead to a significant decrease in nearby property values due to visual, noise, and other environmental concerns.
As a homeowner, this is deeply troubling. The financial implications for residents could be severe, reducing the value of our investments and negatively impacting the local real estate market. I urge you to take this into account and reject the development plan.
Sincerely
Adam Nicholson

RE: TAMWORTH BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM APPLICATION NO: SSD-23830229
I wish to object to the above application.
As a nearby resident to the Tamworth and Calala BESS I have concerns regarding three large scale BESS proposals being built within 1km of each other all on bush fire prone land. As per the Calala BESS the Tamworth BESS proposed development site is close to residential housing and farms. As a matter of general knowledge lithium battery fires are intense and difficult to extinguish creating a risk of damage to property and life on account of bushfire. Concerns must also be made in regards to polluted or contaminated ground run off into Goonoo Goonoo Creek if there was a fire or a spill which then flows into the Peel River.
Construction noise whilst the project is being completed and the constant 24/7 humming of the batteries once operational will adversely affect local residents. How effective will the noise barriers be? Does Valant Energy even know as it appears all their developments in Australia are all "in the pipeline" or "ready to build". The glare/lighting of the BESS will also adversely affect local residents.
Depreciation in property value - local real estate agents have agreed the Tamworth BESS will have a negative impact on property prices in the area.

Dear Planning Committee,
I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed Bess project inTamworth from an economic perspective. The long-term economic viability of a Bess has been called into question due to issues such as variable storage ability and maintenance costs.
Wind droughts and cloudy days can render these Bess ineffective leading to significant periods of low energy production storage
Investing in such an uncertain venture could divert funds from more reliable and sustainable energy projects. I urge you to reconsider the economic rationale behind this development and to explore more viable alternatives.
For example nuclear energy generation.
Best regards,
Nerissa Nicholson

Dear Planning Officials,
I am writing to highlight the significant infrastructure concerns associated with the proposed Bess development in Tamworth. The construction of this Bess would necessitate extensive road building and other supporting infrastructure in previously untouched areas. This would not only lead to habitat destruction but also increase the risk of fire and water use.
The impact on our local infrastructure would be immense, and the long-term maintenance costs could burden our community. Please consider these serious infrastructure concerns and oppose the development plan.
Sincerely,
Annie Hare

I am writing with regards to the proposed Battery located at calala and to say that I strongly disagree with it as the community was not adequately informed or allowed to be involved in the process or discussion of such an important and potentially harmful issue. The negative impacts this will have are many such as the environmental impact that this will cause from altering or polluting run-off into the water supply, the high risk of it catching fire resulting in catastrophic damaged not just to the environment and animal habitat but risking people’s health from smoke inhalation, property from fires resulting in financial hardship and increasing mental hardships, even the reduction in value of people’s homes that they have worked hard for a long time to be able to afford, I can’t imagine the council agreeing to pay them for any financial loss as a result of such a ludicrous and poorly thought out project.

The proposal of this battery station so close to residential areas will have an impact on the future of house prices in the area. I currently enjoy the view from our place which will be ruined if the project was to go ahead. The sound pollution is also another factor into my objection.
The long term health issues that may be associated with having such a large scale battery station so close to residential areas is another factor that I don’t feel has been considered. I for one am not willing to risk the health of myself or my family.
If this is a justifiable necessity then find somewhere else out of town and away from houses to establish the station that won’t affect the residents who have chosen the peacefulness of this area to create their homes and raise their families.

* My property is within 1 km of the proposed BESS, considering there are three proposed BESS projects in the same area I will be totally surrounded by them. A total of 665 homes are within a 2 km radius of the proposed BESS plant.
* The BESS facility will have 136 battery containers and 68 PCS units covering over 20 acres, the noise and the disruption that this project will create, 24hrs a day, exceeds acceptable levels at all times for the closest homes including the sleep disturbance criterion.
* The roads that will be used during the construction phase are primarily gravel roads, they are not wide enough nor stable enough to cater for the increase in traffic to the expected 46-62% with the primary routes being via Whitehouse Lane, Marsden Park Rd, Burgess and Burgmanns Lanes.
* The lot is bush fire prone land, with 38 homes within 1km and, as with electric vehicle fires, they must burn themselves out if ignited as they are unable to be extinguished. These fires also emit toxic gas. Drainage from the site will go into Goonoo-Goonoo Creek and then into the Peel river.
* The Calala area can be cut off from essential services when the Peel River floods, this would cause serious problems in case of an Emergency.

I object to the Battery Storage farms being built within our current environment. It is zoned Rural Residential not Industrial.
The construction of the Battery farms would result in an increase of traffic flow along the dirt roads causing more dust nuisance for residents.
The construction of the battery farms would be able to be viewed by numerous residents spoiling the landscape that they now enjoy. People chose to purchase their properties in a rural setting. The battery farm will decrease the value of surrounding properties.
The safety of battery farms appears to be an unknown factor. There are many thoughts on the safety of Lithium batteries and the affect they will have on our environment.
It is also a huge concern that three battery farms are being considered for installation within a kilometre of each other.

I object to the proposed Tamworth Battery Energy Storage System.
Energy generating infrastructure should not cause a loss of agricultural land.
There are 666 residences within 2km of the proposed project - will they be impacted by toxic smoke if a fire starts at the project?
The "rapid transition to renewable energy" is unfairly impacting rural and regional NSW.

I need Coal.
I don't need Our Earth covered in a Toxic Toxic type of Infrastructure for Renewables I Vehemently Object to, Yes.
I Object to Batteries that are a Toxic Infrastructure.
I want to use C O A L because we can quite Easily keep a Limit on its use for electricity generation, when the other Method will Cause Harm and Loss to Environment.
I Cannot support More Infrastructure supporting Renewables I Vehemently Vehemently Vehemently Most Vehemently Object to.
I lived in Tamworth yes. Part of my life, yes.
We used a Limited amount of electricity. Still do. We got Taught to, so we Care for Country.
BESS catch on fire, Hey. What are you Doing gov.au ? What are you Doing ? Cease it.
Coal can be used Minimally, Minimally.
I Choose Coal.
Coal. There's Nothing wrong with it.
Toxic infrastructure Cease.
BESS Cease.
Build brand new low emissions Coal Fired power stations as China and India do, the Australian Government support, NB Support.
Shame on Everyone in gov.au.
Shame on them All.
Shame Shame Shame.
Cease and Desist Renewables On Country On Farmland In Wilderness In Oceans Immediately. Add Cessation of BESS infrastructure, prone to fire.
It's in view, Fire Issues re BESS. Cease this idea immediately - BESS in Tamworth, on the PEEL River Catchments to Australia 's Food Bowl, needing Care.
Care.
Care, yes, Care.
Care.
Cease and Desist All Renewables On Country On Farmland In Wilderness In Oceans and use Rooftops Only for modified Renewables, without the need for BESS.
It's a Costly method being Renewables and BESS that are a Unreliable source of energy.
I need a Moratorium into these things:
Planning Department
Labor Government.
Renewables On Country On Farmland In Wilderness In Oceans when they can be On Rooftops Only.
Export of Coal to make Renewables Infrastructure we Don't need, do we . Don't.

3.14.4 Final land use
It is expected that the final land use after rehabilitation will be the resumption of current
agricultural practices at the site.
Which is in breach of Article 2.1(b) of the Paris Agreement.
'Increasing the ability to adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change and foster climate resilience and low greenhouse gas emissions development, in a manner that does not threaten food production'
Land used for agriculture should not be industrialised.
Public Liability Insurance
'Renewables' projects are subject to significant fire risks. In the NSW Legislative Assembly on the 29 November 2023, there was a question raised by the Member for Dubbo, Mr Dugald Saunders in relation to Public Liability Insurance specifically:
“Farmers with properties adjacent to solar farms across the State, including those in Glanmire recently, have been refused public liability insurance due to the potential damage from fire.”
A condition of approval should be to indemnify adjoining owners who currently are unable to insure their properties because of potential fire risks from solar developments.
Other Conditions of Approval
1. a bond is held from start of project with guaranteed finance in place to cover decommissioning and full project removal, disposal and rehabilitation costs at end of life;
2. appropriate regulations are in place to protect threatened and endangered species;
3. large scale renewable projects are subject to full state government approval processes and be made impact-assessable not code-assessable;
4. an appropriate land access framework to protect the environment, cultural heritage and existing land users is established;
5. minimal impact upon existing rate payers is negotiated;
6. Australia's food security is protected by prohibiting large scale renewable projects on prime agricultural land; (See Paris Agreement Article 2 (1) (b))
7. all large-scale renewable projects comply with the same regulations that apply to agriculture and mining;
8. large scale renewable projects are added as a trigger to the EPBC Act;
9. a mandatory code of conduct is established to govern the renewable energy sector and renewable energy proponents’ conduct with affected communities.”
See attached documents regarding the folly of attempting to provide battery storage for a national energy grid.
