The project is much needed, however I object to the pipes being run through the heart of Newington. As a small suburb ringed on all 4 sides by major thoroughfare roads, our green space is vital to the physical and mental wellbeing of our community. Please consider running the pipes along Holker Street as an alternative to the major disruption of running them through the hub of our community.

I object to the current pathway for the construction through Newington.
It doesn't seem like there has been enough community consultation in this process. The proposed construction and disruption to the Newington community was not adequately communicated since no community information sessions were conducted in Newington until it was sought by our local member.

The closure of the major thoroughfare through Newington (Newington Boulevard) will significantly impact all residents travel time and access to the main shops, amenities, school and the roads leading into and out of Newington including public transport- buses every 10min.. The proposed traffic diversions are all onto narrow streets which are not designed for through traffic. Many households have more than one car and the on street parking is often at capacity. When both sides are occupied, only one car can drive through at a time. Some of the side streets mentioned are only wide enough for parking on one side of the street and then only a narrow space in which to drive through.

The expectation that residents on roads that are closed can park in surrounding streets does not take into account the parking spaces already occupied by the residents of those streets.

The side streets of Newington are quite narrow. Any extra obstructions will impact emergency vehicle and garbage truck access. Garbage truck access is already compromised when there are parked cars on both sides of some streets.

The proposed construction through Comaneci Ave will have adverse effects on the residents including access and throughfare. The proposal to dig an ~3m wide trench in an ~4m wide street will effectively close off the street to those residents and others in the immediately surrounding streets. The side streets of Newington are often too narrow to complete U-turns or 3 point turns to exit a street that has been blocked off. Digging for many hours a day (as stated in the proposal) will adversely effect the quality of life for those residents due to noise, dust and vibration.

Ali Pde is a narrow street that is unsuitable for heavy vehicle traffic.

The use of the public green space (C25 and C26) will adversely effect the access to community green space. This includes the children's playground and off leash dog park. Many residents live in units in Newington. This is the most used green space in Newington for these residents and others who go there. Many children walk up Newington Boulevard to the park (through the proposed closed section) after school and on weekends.

I ask that other routes be reconsidered for this construction.

Newington is a green and quite suburb for many years, this project will create chaos in this Newington neighbourhood, the amount of heavy vehicles traffic will create health risk to students and residents, it will also devalue the properties in this suburb, it will also threaten the nature reserve of Newington. This type of project isn't suitable for Newington, it is much better to have such project to built in the industrial corridor such as Rosehill/Camellia.

I am writing as a local community member to strongly object to this proposal.

This project does not truly solve the wastewater issue. It shifts the impact by relocating treated discharge from Olympic Park to Meadowbank. This is not fair or responsible planning. Our community should not be expected to absorb the environmental impact of development happening elsewhere.

I am deeply concerned about the effect on the Parramatta River and the Meadowbank foreshore. This is a well-used public space and one of the few accessible green areas in the area. Any risk to water quality, wildlife habitat, and the progress made in restoring the river is unacceptable.

The proposal will also reduce access to parts of the foreshore and change how this space is used by the community. During construction, it will bring increased traffic, noise, and disruption to already narrow and busy local streets.

This feels like a decision that protects larger development areas while placing the burden on a smaller community. It sets a poor precedent and does not reflect fair or balanced planning.

For these reasons, I strongly object to this proposal and urge that it be rejected or significantly reconsidered.

The plan would damage important green space along the Parramatta River, including trees, bush‑regeneration areas, wildlife habitat, and parts of Memorial Park. After years of river rehabilitation, this proposal risks reversing significant environmental gains.
Construction and long‑term changes would disrupt access, increase traffic on narrow residential streets, and remove valued community assets such as walking paths, cycleways, and the dog beach. The character of the Meadowbank foreshore would be permanently altered.
Overall, the project is inequitable, environmentally harmful, and does not solve the underlying issue, but only relocates it.

I strongly object to the proposed GPOP Water Cycle alignment involving excavation of a large trench immediately adjacent to my residence, next to the Memorial Park reserve.
My home is directly beside the proposed trench corridor. I chose to live there for its beautiful outlook, pristine bushland and quiet surroundings. The prospect of months of drilling and rock sawing in such proximity to my home will greatly affect my wellbeing, physical and mental health. I suffer from acute asthma and the debris, dust, and waste would directly impact my health.
The construction process will also obstruct my driveway. Not having access will significantly impact my trip to work and looking after my youngest son.
Also, closing parts of Meadow Crescent for extended periods of time will greatly affect a very big number of residents and people accessing Memorial Park.
I request that Sydney Water adopt an alternative route that has the water tubes go from the northern end of Wentworth Point straight out to the John Whitton Bridge area which is the original exit point of the water. This saves tearing up mangroves, a heavily used park, pristine and untouched reserve and park and roads.
Alternatively, release the water in the Homebush Bay of the Flats, as this is meant to be treated water and will have little ecological effects in an area that is not used.
I ask that these concerns be given due consideration in the assessment of the proposal.

There are too many people living in surrounding area and if the water get toxic by acciy, it will impact lots of pet. I believe this could be done in a low density area , just that the government is scared of rich people living in low density area

Objection: Proposed Wastewater Pipeline Route through Newington (SSI- 22765520)

I have strong objection due to the following

- Newington area is the only Olympic village with big scale and should be in conservation not as wastewater pipeline site.

- The apartments and community buildings were built for 2000 Olympic events in short period of time and they are already experiencing defects and major repairs at moment. More in-depth diggings are very likely to expose the buildings to high risk of damaging and collapsing;

- Newington area is currently a very harmonious community, with cultural and heritage environment around. Kids enjoy their time on limited greens locally. We don’t like to see these space taken away by wastewater pipeline works;

I strongly demand and appreciate Sydney Water to consider alternative routes and a few less-damaging routes that are existing.
