I object to the incinerator at Eastern Creek being built.
I have a young growing family and feel this will impact greatly on their health. I would consider moving from this area if this was to go ahead. I feel with the airport being put in close by, this will already produce a lot of toxins and pollution which the local suburbs have fortunately got to live without and the reason the residents choose to live in the local area.
Please reconsider the submission to build the incinerators.

While I indeed applaud the concept of using waste and refuse to generate power I am opposed to the proposed construction of an incinerator at Eastern Creek.
I have formed the opinion that the incinerator potentially poses a health risk to my region and am in agreement with sources that imply that there is no green benefit to such a development. It is also of concern to me that there will indeed be some refuse that is not sorted prior to incineration, that there will indeed continue to be refuse put into landfill, albeit already incinerated refuse. I have concerns that even with contemporary filtration systems the burn off entering the air will still contain dioxins and other air particles hazardous to human and natural health.
It is of concern to me that all the modelling carried out for this proposal is based on "existing or proposed" operations in the vicinity and we are told that the incinerator will "probably" not have any implications for increased traffic in the area. I find this difficult to believe when Eastern Creek, Minchinbury, Blacktown where I live, in fact this entire region has seen significant population growth in recent years and all predictions are that this will continue. This fact alone tells me that traffic and waste will increase, and when I have become aware of additional warehousing and other business developments around especially the Wallgrove road area.
In my thirty years as a Blacktown resident, I have observed an exponential increase in traffic, including heavy transport in the region and I find it inconceivable that such a facility as this incinerator will not contribute further to this. The noise and exhaust fumes emitted by this traffic can be heard and smelled much of the time and on days when the wind blows in certain directions and I am often in fact forced to shut doors and windows to keep the smell out of the house. Even if as the company representatives of The Next Generation state, emissions from that facility would not smell, I am still left with great concern about the quality of the air into which the burn off from the incinerator stack will be released.
Not to mention the additional industry and traffic flow that will follow in my region as a flow on when/if the Badgerys Creek airport development begins. I would assume that this is a development that a proposal such as the incineration operations will benefit from with additional customers. This benefit as now, comes despite what amounts in fact to a very low level of employment opportunities provided by the incinerator development.
So my major concerns are issues of health and environment. I have concerns about compliance with environmental protection standards. Even if as claimed, this facility reaches current environment standards, I remain unconvinced that the current environment standards offer sufficient safe guards. I am also concerned about the capacity of this operation to adjust to any new standards that might in future be put into place. I have experienced life in a region living with an incinerator which spewed out health hazardous emission in breach of not only our weak Australian environment protection standards but almost every European and American standard for over 20 years despite community protest before it was eventually closed down.
I will conclude by re-stating that I am opposed to the development of the Energy from Waste Incinerator proposal for Eastern Creek.

I am a boy from a family of 7, and 3 of those people including myself have breathing problems. If the incinerator happens, more than just my family will be affected. More than 25 million people will be subjected to chemichals and metals that cause ling time effects.
The incinerator is being built near 3 schools and 2 hospitals. all of these people will have ailments that will decrease their lifespan.
if the people doing this think that this is for the better of the world, than they are very mistaken.

I cannot believe that there is consideration to building something that has even the slightest chance of causing disease in a residential area such as this. I live 5km from the site which is about the same distance as Eastern Creek waste depot. I regularly smell the wast from the tip. I do not wish to breathe in the toxic fumes from the incinerator when the wind is blowing or way.
Build it away from people.
Build it away from people.

It is ridiculous to have this thing built in and som close to Minchinbury Residents. Sydneys Air can not take the pollutions and toxins it could generate let alone the noise of the operation and tricks supplying and feeding it!
No way should it go ahead!

As a resident of St Clair and Mother of 6 Children i strongly object to this facility being built so close. My Children go to school in Erskine Park and think this is absolutely ridiculous to have so close. I fear for my childrens and partners health who suffer from asthma. We already suffer from the pungent stench that comes from the dump at Eastern creek. Enough is enough we are not science experiments this is ours lives you are jeopardizing.

Full against the plants location. It is too close to too many schools and residential area. Thus affecting the lives of many children and families who live in the area.

Dear Sir/Madam,
The proposed waste to energy facility will pollute Sydney's air, create toxic solid wastes and undermine zero waste strategies.
Air emissions include highly toxic and carcinogenic persistent organic pollutants such as dioxins and furans (PCDD and PCDF), hexachlorobenzene (HCB), PCBs and brominated persistent organic pollutants. The air emissions also include nanoparticles of toxic heavy metals such as lead, mercury and arsenic and acid gases that have serious impacts on human health. These acids also attacks the stack gas filtration unit reducing the reliability and effectiveness of air pollution treatment.
Location of the proposed plant near to Prospect Reservoir poses an unacceptable risk to that water body and its future use as a raw source of drinking water.
Australia is a signatory to the Stockholm Convention and approval of this facility will breach the intent of this convention to eliminate dioxins and furans from the environment.
Flyash from the proposed plant will be contaminated with toxic heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants as mentioned above. Management of the flyash will be hazardous to workers and the environment of the emplacement area.
Waste burning facilities produce far more carbon dioxide per unit of energy generated than coal, oil or gas fired power stations and destroys resources that should be reused, such as plastics.
Burning resources stifles resource sustainability initiatives and costs jobs in the recycling and product reuse industries.
The proposal will seek to obtain public subsidies and tax breaks that should be spent on assisting real `green' energy projects to establish such as wind, wave and solar power.
Australia's natural resources need to be conserved through reuse, recycling and composting schemes, not burnt and destroyed. The proposal entrenches a wasteful society and is the wrong direction if we are culture is to adapt and thrive in the 21st century. We should be producing our energy from renewable sources not creating air pollution by burning rubbish.
Thank you for the opportunity to object to the unacceptable proposal that treats resources as waste.
Yours sincerely,
Haydn Washington

Emission of toxic pollutants in the vicinity of Prospect Reservoir is a great concern.
The majority of Sydney's water supply originates from this reservoir and until there is a fool proof way of ensuring that not toxins are transported through to the tap, any decision to place such infrastructure within the metropolitan area is of great concern.
The health of the population that gets their water supply from Prospect Reservoir should be of the highest priority. It is the children in these areas that will suffer the potential adverse impacts of a build up of toxins from the incinerated waste.
This has long term impacts on the cost of health services for future d=generations and a myriad of unknown implications to individuals and the community as a whole to deal with in the future
