My job and the jobs of 1300 others depend on Mount Thorley Warkworth which has been part of the Singleton and surround communities for more than 30 years. The impact on my family and the families of others who work at the mine would be greatly affected if it is not approved to continue mining. But the impact doesn't stop with the people directly employed by Mount Thorley Warkworth or with the countless number of companies that support the operation and not to mention the impact on the retail and services sectors which benefit greatly from the money spent in our local communities.

I have moved myself & my family to rutherford with the future in mind for our family. My wife, children & i support this extention as we also support local businesses that we shop at, Sporting clubs & local schools that my three children attend. I would like to see a long term future for us here but have to say that all of that would most definately be in jeperdy if the mount thorley warkworth extention is not approved.

Not supporting the proposal would be economic suicide for the local community and beyond compared to the interests of just a few. I am at retirement age and would personally benefit from the mine closure, however, the bigger picture is critical. The value of my property had reduced and would continue to do so. Importantly, Singleton has become a poorer rural town. Housing vacancy rates and job prospects continue to worsen as the "closure" hangs over our heads. The recent Vale experience supports these views.

I have been an employee at Mt Thorley Warkworth mine for several years and am dependent on the extension being approved. I am in my later years of employment and feel that with the current economic climate I would not be able to secure another job if I was to lose my current position. I am sure there are many other employees in the same situation.
There are 1300 jobs depending on the extension for Mt Thorley Warkworth mine and the impact on these people and also on the surrounding regions communities & industries from the loss of these jobs would be devastating.

The mining industry is a key contributor to the revenue of Australia, and integral to the continued prosperity of our country.
MTW supports thousands of individuals, taking into account its direct employees and those employees in the broader community whose livelihood depend on this application being successful.
I support the application because I believe it will deliver the best outcome for the majority of the local community, for the State and for Australia.

I wish to support the project to support the many jobs that will be lost if it does not go ahead and also to maximise the extraction of the public asset (being the coal resource), to maximise the return to the government to invest in infrastructure.

The effects to the direct community and indirectly to the larger companies who operate within this area will be significantly detrimental if the project does not proceed.
The detrimental facts of the community's wellbeing should outweigh the thoughts of the group of people with dissimilar views who are opposing the project. The project team are cooperatively listening to and assisting with relationships, rectifying complaints as much as feasible.

Whatever your standpoint for the future of mining in australia, we still have a really large need for the thermal coal produced by MTW. Riotinto works with, and supports the local community in the NSW rural region and i really hope that they continue being able to operate, so that the locals and families directly affected by the mine can continue to have stability and security in thier futures.
