I moved to the Hunter valley for multiple reasons. The first being that’s it’s a beautiful and amazing place to live, secondly the Hunter has amazing employment opportunities. I’m able to raise my family in an area with a bright future. Hvo contributes so much to the community and closing hvo would impact the local and surrounding areas immensely.

I’m supporting the project as Lemmington road needs an upgrade. Also having a new bridge to replace Moses Crossing will be a great addition.

HVO in the Hunter Valley has a track record of environmentally responsible operations that have overall benefited the local community and NSW economy for over 50 years. It was some of the first open cut coal mined in the Hunter Valley, and given the quality of the HVO coal, it should be the last coal mined in 2050.

I am writing to express my support for the HVO Continuation Project.
Living and working in the Hunter Valley, I see first-hand the role HVO plays in supporting families, local businesses and community groups. Extending the life of the mine means ongoing security for around 1,500 workers, as well as the many contractors and suppliers who rely on these operations. That stability flows through to schools, shops, sporting clubs and the broader community.
I also welcome the infrastructure upgrades proposed as part of this project. A new Hunter River bridge and the realignment of Lemington Road will not only benefit the mine but will also improve safety and reliability for everyone who uses these roads, especially during wet weather.
What gives me confidence is that the continuation focuses on existing disturbed areas, rather than creating a new mine. Reducing the number of final voids and committing to progressive rehabilitation shows that long-term environmental outcomes are being taken seriously.
For me, the HVO Continuation Project represents a balanced path forward: securing local jobs, investing in community infrastructure, and managing land responsibly. I strongly support its approval.
