Hunter Valley Operations provides working career which I can provide for my family and continue my mining career

I believe it is a good project, providing jobs for lots of people. HVO is a long standing mine site, mining within their allowed amounts with minimal complaints. they also do lots for the community.

I support the submission for HVO future and my future and my family and support the community

The HVO continuation project is vitally important to the employees and contractors who live and work in the Hunter Valley and other nearby areas. This project is a continuation of an existing project that has a significant benefit to the local communities of Singleton and Muswellbrook. Each year HVO contributes many millions in direct wages which are then spent by workers in and around the local community. When the flow on effects of this expenditure are multiplied it cannot be underestimated how many people are positively affected by this project.

This project is able to maximise the resource recovery within an existing mining area that also leverages off existing infrastructure of the HVO CHPP’s and rail loop so from a net disturbance point of view this project should be encouraged and promoted for the benefit of the State. There are significant ongoing State Royalties to be gained from this project which means that all people in NSW will benefit from a successful approval. The benefits to the HVO employees and contractors, the people of NSW, local businesses, communities and from the revenue to the State cannot be undersold when considering the project.

HVO North provides secure employment for myself and provides my family with the affordability of a comfortable lifestyle.

HVO North also provides my community with resources to fund projects within schools and local community organisations that benefit my community as a whole.

HVO North are also courteous and aware of the local community and its residents and at every opportunity minimise any and all impacts their operations may have.

HVO has also provided opportunities to my family, providing uni holiday employment for the past 2 years, which has not only provided work experience but also allowed my daughter the affordability to live in Sydney during the uni terms.

My husband and I moved to the Hunter Valley in late 2012 for an employment opportunity in mining when I was pregnant with our first child. Not long after, we bought a house in Singleton for our young family.

Since that time our son has gone to school in Singleton and joined the Singleton Junior Rugby Club. I’ve worked for several local small businesses and mining companies and my husband now work directly for HVO. I am an Admin on a small Facebook page called Singleton Mums that I started in 2013 after having our son and realising there was a need for a medium for local mums to reach out and connect and stay informed about things directly affecting us in our local area. We now have over 3,000 members and many of them have moved here with their families for work in mining. We’ve sold our first house and built a new house in Singleton using a local building company and contractors. We are turning this into our dream home with the help of local businesses and friends in the area.

All of this is continues to be made possible by the continuation of HVO and other mining projects in the region. We have seen what happens in Singleton and the Upper Hunter during a serious mining downturn in 2013 and ’14. Eight years later and there are still empty shop fronts on the main street of Singleton from businesses that closed at that time. The effect will be similar as mines begin to close and if HVO is not allowed to continue mining beyond its current consents, the effect in the near future will be heavily felt by my family and our community.

In short, I support this project as it supports me, my family, and the community in which we live.

This mine has been a great source of income not only for the people that work there but also for the local communities and businesses. They've continued to provide wonderful charity work and scholarships for the families that work there. I support the continuation of this mine.

I fully support the HVO North continuation project as it will provide thousands of jobs for the local community and surrounding areas, not just on the mine site but also for contracting, OEM and supply companies too.
HVO is also very committed to rehabilitating the area back to a natural state after mining.
