The continuation project for the North Pit is a very strong livelihood generator in all aspects of its direct employees and the extended people involved from logistics, labor hire, External repairs right across to the food needed for training days from our local food suppliers.
The continuation project needs to move forward to 2050 to help sustain all Australians with the revenue the mine generates for not only the local people, but the government gets its fair share of the pie also.
The government kept us producing during covid and we were known as "Essential Workers" which kept the economy stimulated during our mandatory lock downs.
The 1500 people that work directly for HVO and the other 4450 flow on jobs that are created help support the local businesses around the hunter and beyond.
It is clear that renewable energy generation is still not able to stand on its own two feet and it also seems most components are not recycle friendly either (Wind Turbine Blades, End of Life Solar Panels)
As much as coal is a hot potato it is needed here and overseas to create electricity generation for housing and industrial uses. the steel industry would not exist without coal also.
The mine has been moving with the times and continues to implement all controls to help with environmental impacts in all areas.
I am an employee of HVO, I also live in the Singleton district and support all the local businesses from food, fuel and daily living costs.

HVO is a significant employer and contributor to numerous local schools, charities and organisations within the Singleton, Muswellbrook and Maitland area.
The security and longevity of this operation is vital not only for myself to provide for family but for another 1500 immediate employees and contractors that I work alongside.

The continuisation of HVO North would be a major benefit to not just the community but to my family as it keep me in a job an in the lifestyle I have given my family

I have worked at HVO for 26 years and plan to retire here. HVO has provided not for just my family but my extended family with my father, brother, father in law, brother in law and others from my extended daily working here.
HVO also supports the local community by using suppliers from local businesses to the greater Hunter Valley, NSW and Australia.
HVO also support many local community organizations through the local grants fund.
Recently HVO has supported locals in need with donations of Christmas gifts built by the HVO employees at the November training days. Donation were also made to those effected by the recent flooding in far away regions of NSW.
As you can see from my submission if this HVO continuation is rejected it won’t just effect the 1600 direct employees and a couple of thousand indirect employees of suppliers , it will also effect many who HVO indirectly support through the charity work. HVO also pays a large amount of royalties to the government which goes towards , education, health and policing of the whole state.

HVO is an existing long term coal operation that has existed in it's current location for decades. It's an important provider of employment and government revenue. It has successful coexisted with other industries for many years and will continue to unhold the highest environmental standards moving forward into this continuation project.
TACTech Mine Planning is a small mining consultancy business owned and operated by Hunter Valley residents. We support 8 local families through full time employment in the open cut coal mining industry. We believe coal mining has a place in the future of the Hunter economy, particularly where the coal mines are already in place and their development is a continuation. Coal mining is a technical process and requires excellence in engineering, something our firm takes great pride in providing to HVO and other mines in NSW. Please approve this continuation.

HVO do alot for the community and should be part of a long term vision for coal in NSW

This project will provide opportunity for myself to establish and maintain a career in mining.
