I am writing in support of this proposed modification.
Approval of this modification will benefit the community in a number of ways such as removing haul trucks from roads reducing traffic, noise and dust, and by allowing for stability of ongoing employment in the local community and providing support for the many local businesses who the colliery deals with on a daily basis.
The advantage of this modification is that there will be no new surface footprint or impact as all the infrastructure is pre-existing with only a short distance of underground driveage being required.
However if this application was to be declined the local community would potentially suffer as a greater constraints placed on the colliery would surely decrease its profitability and bring into question its short and medium term life, especially given the current unstable standing of the industry. Local family's could find themselves with out an income facing either a need to relocate, retrain or remain unemployed. Obviously this would have a negative flow on effect which would be felt much further through the community than those directly employed at the colliery

This project will be good for the community - not only to re-establish a workforce at Mannering, but also to provide a direct link for the coal to the power station, preventing the need for more trucks on the road

I wholly support this modification. It adds significant value to the overall project, providing ongoing jobs and state revenue. It will allow Chain Valley coal to be conveyed directly to the power station, removing trucks from the road network.

LakeCoal's proposal to connect two underground collieries with coincident lease boundaries appears logical especially given the ability to subsequently utilise existing infrastructure at Mannering Colliery to transport coal from Chain Valley to the adjacent power station.
In addition, while not directly related to the proposal, it is also recognised that these collieries were initially established as the fuel sources for the vales point power station in the early 1960's and continuing to act in this capacity helps to reduce the need for train deliveries of coal from much further afield.

i believe this is an excellent plan for these mines. the fact of minimal effects to the local environment as well as providing job security for the workers and also opportunities for others for future employment brings money to the area.
